NaLEC continues to strengthen leaders, help build resilient churches, and advance economic flourishing across Latino communities. These past days, NaLEC participated in the Economic Challenges Facing Pastoral Leaders (ECFPL) annual Gathering in Indianapolis, joining national partners and faith leaders through this National Initiative by the Lilly Endowment to address the economic challenges facing pastoral leaders. What began as a financial literacy effort has grown into a broader ecosystem of pastoral sustainability, including financial formation, retirement planning, healthcare navigation, crisis stabilization, leadership accompaniment, and congregational support. Through NaLEC’s trusted grassroots network, churches continue serving as centers of leadership, stability, and hope within vulnerable communities. To date, our Initiative has engaged 308 pastors & leaders representing 176 congregations, supported 61 matching grant applications, awarded more than $420K through the Ministerial Excellence Fund, and generated nearly $289K in matching funds. Most importantly, pastors are no longer carrying financial strain alone. NaLEC remains committed to building healthier ministry ecosystems, stronger leaders, resilient congregations, and flourishing communities for generations to come. This past weekend NaLEC participated in the second annual convening of the National Initiative to Strengthen Hispanic Pastoral Leaders and Congregations, a collaborative effort of 18 institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico. This initiative is coordinated by @aeth_org and @garrettseminary . Under the theme “Transformed by Renewal: Discerning Our Faithful Next Steps,” this gathering brought together key partners committed to empowering Latino/a pastoral leaders through leadership development, theological education, and holistic pastoral formation across the United States and Puerto Rico. Across three days of formation, collaboration, and strategic engagement, we advanced a shared vision focused on strengthening sustainable leadership models, deepening pastoral formation pathways, and expanding the capacity of Latino churches to faithfully respond to present challenges and future opportunities. This convening reflects both the impact already underway and the long-term trajectory ahead, building stronger ecosystems of mentorship, theological formation, and institutional collaboration that serve the next generation of leaders. As we move forward, NaLEC remains committed to strengthening communities, scaling leadership development efforts, and contributing to a more resilient and well-equipped Latino pastoral ecosystem.
