A new group of Black leaders is making local history across Georgia cities after recent elections, reflecting a broader trend of representation at all levels of government. In Acworth, Kimberly Haase was elected as the city’s first African-American alderwoman, while 22-year-old Jayden Williams serves as the mayor of Stockbridge.
Mayors and officials across the metro area highlighted the role of community engagement and collaboration in driving change — pointing to historic milestones such as Greenville’s election of Richmond D. Hill, the first Black mayor in Georgia, in 1973 and the recent election of Connie Alsobrook, the first Black woman mayor of Conyers. Newly elected leaders say their focus now is ensuring that the voices of the residents who put them into office continue to shape decisions every day, not just during campaign seasons, reinforcing the evolving political landscape across Georgia’s cities.

Just tried cryotherapy for the first time and OMG — 3 minutes in subzero temps and I feel recharged and ready to conquer my little corner of the world! 🧊🔥 If you're a woman of a certain age like me trying to live your best life, you already know it's impossible to do so during this phase without mood boosters, better sleep, and energy enhancers! I hope this is a total game-changer! I'll let y'all know!
