‘Vintage Lover’ is 15-page comic I’ve been toiling over this past semester that I’m ready to bring to THE MASSES! My plan is to RISO-print the comic, so I’ve set up a pre-order form to know how many copies I should make :D
A preview of the comic will be in the spring issue of SVA’s Drawn to History magazine, which will be out in a few weeks and distributed (for free!) on campus. I also did the cover for the spring issue hehe so you’ll know it when you see it :P

This is the last image in my thesis that makes up the core pieces.
I think of this as the big, rare, real moment of connection where the little man feels acceptance. I really love this piece and I hope it finds a home somewhere
I’m still not done working on all this so gird your loins for the finishing act of my thesis project - honestly I think even this project is still the start of me exploring these ideas so I’m excited to keep going (for years and years and years!! hopefully)

I think this one is a pretty hopeful illustration. You can still carve out a place for joy in the rubble of violence and pain

I started this painting with no plan except the composition and the color palette, and it’s actually one of my favorites :)
I’m building on the theme of the natural world and the terrifying expanse of it, connecting that to how masculinity can feel when you’re still trying to step into it. Crazy man exploration and spelunking basically

‘Boyhood’

This piece is directly about specific childhood experiences that I was or wasn’t able to have living within the gendered constraints we force on kids. A lot of the symbols are more general/relatable, others are so specific no one will recognize them. Boyhood was a private experience for me, one I had to find for myself through things like Minecraft.
Forget all the other stuff actually, this piece is about how Minecraft was really important to my childhood. Ty minecraft
