1959年 Austin Healey Sprite MK1 Ex石津謙介
1964年の第1回日本グランプリでVAN JACKETの石津謙介氏の息子である石津祐介氏がハンドルを握り、1300cc以下のクラスで優勝をおさめたはずが、ウィンドシールドの規定違反とみなされ、幻の優勝となったその車両。
石津謙介氏は株式会社ヴァンヂャケットの創業者で、日本の著名なファッションデザイナー。
ブランド「VAN」は1960年代から1970年代にかけて一世を風靡し、日本のファッションシーンの最先端を走り続けた。
また、石津謙介氏は、自動車、オートバイ、乗馬、水上スキーなど、当時の流行の先端をいく遊びにも長けており、T.P.O.という言葉によって、着こなしや時々のルールなどスタイル全般をイノベーションし、メンズファッションとライフスタイルの文化を築いた人物である。
当車両は今から55年前の1971年に現オーナーがNaito Engineering の初代会長を通して購入し弊社でフルレストレーションを施し今までガレージで眠り続けていた個体。
60年以上前にレースで使われていたスポーツカーでは非常に珍しいシャシー,ボディー,エンジン,ギアボックス全てマッチングしている非常に希少な個体です。そして約60年の時を経て、この車両をNaito Engineering により復活させる予定です。
Ishizu Kensuke October 20, 1911 – May 24, 2005 was a Japanese fashion designer in the 20th century. Founder of Van Jacket Co., Ltd.
He was the creator of the “Ivy Look,” a men’s fashion style that emerged in Japan during the 1960s, the era of high economic growth, and was called the “God of Men’s Fashion.”
The ‘Ivy Look’ championed by Kensuke Ishizu was more than just fashion. it introduced to Japan the very lifestyle of young, affluent, and active Americans of that era, incorporating elements like sports cars, yachting, and the Ivy League culture itself.
Magazines like Men’s Club(1960s) helped popularize this, associating Ivy style with a modern, cosmopolitan, and wealthy lifestyle, where owning a sports car was a natural part of the “Ivy” identity.
This Austin Healey Sprite MKi “frog Eye” driven by Yusuke Ishizu, son of VAN Jacket founder Kensuke Ishizu at the 1st Japan Grand Prix in 1963. Although he dominated the under-1300cc class and crossed the finish line first, his victory was stripped after the car was found to be in violation of windshield regulations, but people said Robbed of the win by strange decisions!
