The more voices we hear (yes, even from the same organisation!), the better we can serve our community.
We spent the last two weeks on the move with the City of Windhoek team for Wellness Week.
Having visited a total of 8 City of Windhoek sites, while the medical aid teams handled the clinical side testing: Blood sugar and blood pressure and cholesterol, the NAFSAN team focused on the “what now?”
We spent our time diving into the practical stuff: how to actually cut back on sugar, what a balanced plate looks like in real life, and how to manage lifestyle conditions through food.

This #EarthDay, Stampriet Aquifer Uranium Mining Association (SAUMA) stands in solidarity with Namibia’s leading environmental protectors. As the world focuses on "𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁," we are reminded that our greatest power lies in protecting our most vital local resource: the Stampriet Transboundary Aquifer System (STAS).
The threat of ISL uranium mining puts the lifeblood of the Omaheke and Hardap regions at risk. We believe that a sustainable future isn’t just about clean energy - 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿.
Together with our partners, we are defending the right to a safe environment and a secure water supply for all Namibians.

*NAFSAN Turns Up the Volume on UI Meetings!🔊🔊🔊*
Umbrella_Initiatives (UI)⛱️⛱️ meetings just got a major upgrade! Thanks to the generous donation of a meeting microphone from the Nutrition and Food Security Alliance of Namibia ( NAFSAN), UI officially turned up the volume for the first time today — and what a difference it made!
Partly gone are the days of “Can you speak up, please?” 🗣️🗣️🗣️The new microphone🔊 has already boosted sound clarity, making UI discussions smoother, clearer, and far more engaging.
Umbrella_Initiatives⛱️⛱️ truly appreciate this thoughtful contribution from NAFSAN. It’s a small device with a big impact, and we’re excited about the improved conversations ahead.
Toasts🥂 to louder, clearer, and more effective meetings — thank you, NAFSAN!

The Living Earth Expo (17th–18th April) brought together conversations, learning, and action towards healthier and more sustainable living
From engaging talks on nutrition and wellness to practical workshops, the event showed how small, realistic changes can make a big impact. NAFSAN also had the opportunity to contribute to the dialogue through a talk on a realistic path to healthier eating, focusing on affordability, accessibility, and local food choices.
We were proud to be part of the exhibition, connecting with the community at our stand and sharing knowledge on healthy, accessible food options.
Water is life, the foundation of our food supply through plants and animals, and in our desert environment it forms the backbone of our entire economy. We need clean and safe water.
This World Water Day let us remember to protect our underground water, like the Stampriet Aquifer - so that we don’t end up destroying, irradiating and poisoning our most valuable resource. We must ensure our children and grandchildren have a healthy and prosperous future, while ensuring energy supply in safe ways.

The Nutrition and Food Security Alliance of Namibia (NAFSAN) hosted over 20 young people for a two-day Youth Leadership for Nutrition Workshop, on Thursday.
The workshop was both insightful and highly engaging, providing a platform to explore key nutrition topics such as malnutrition, breastfeeding, maternal health and pregnancy, stunting, obesity, and the importance of healthy eating and drinking habits.
Through interactive and fun activities as well as practical exercises participants were able to learn, reflect, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. It was particularly inspiring to witness young leaders actively engaging and demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles within their communities.
This engagement forms part of NAFSAN’s broader efforts to empower young people as advocates for nutrition and food security, strengthen community awareness, and contribute to long-term solutions in addressing malnutrition in Namibia.
