Honored to attend the leadership dinner hosted by the San Antonio Association for Bilingual Education at the iconic Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia last night — and today to continue the celebration at the SAABE conference, surrounded by history, culture, and the powerful legacy reflected in the Latino Hall of Fame. San Antonio was my home for 13 years, and it remains a place I love deeply. This city taught me so much about community, advocacy, resilience, language, culture, and identity. Coming back always feels like coming home. I was especially grateful to spend time with my wonderful mentor, Dr. Ellen Clark, alongside so many incredible leaders who continue moving bilingual education forward. It was also an honor to reconnect with former U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, who continues to remind us that bilingualism is our superpower. The San Antonio Association for Bilingual Education continues a powerful legacy that has influenced the entire country in promoting language, culture, identity, and educational equity for multilingual learners. Today, I return with so much pride as President of the National Association for Bilingual Education to continue standing with San Antonio, its legacy, and this beautiful community. NABE stands proudly alongside SAABE in solidarity, partnership, and commitment to advancing bilingual education, culture, identity, and opportunity for our children and families. ¡Gracias SAABE! ¡Gracias familia de San Antonio! Ready for a wonderful conference and for continuing this important work together. #SAABE2026 @teachcardona :

As one school year ends, new opportunities begin. The journey of multilingual education is a reminder that every ending is also a new beginning—new goals, new voices, and new connections waiting to be made. Take pride in what you’ve accomplished this year and carry that momentum forward into the future. We look forward to continuing this work together at NABE 2027 Conference. 🌎✨ #MotivationMonday #NABE2027 #SpeakTheWorld #MultilingualLearners

NABE at FABE Conference What an energizing and inspiring time at the Florida Association for Bilingual Education (FABE) Conference! NABE was proudly represented by President Dr. Margarita Machado-Casas, who delivered a powerful presentation on the impact of BESO and the importance of uplifting the next generation of bilingual educators. She was joined by Dr. Santiago Wood and NABE’s Executive Director, Nilda Aguirre, engaging in meaningful conversations and advocacy throughout the conference. We were also incredibly proud to see our very own Dr. Maria Coady as the keynote speaker—who reminded us about Florida's role in the bilingual education field. Her message truly moved and inspired us all! The energy, commitment, and collective vision for multilingual learners were felt throughout the entire conference. Don’t forget—we’re heading to Florida next year for the NABE Annual Conference! We hope to see you there! Check out our social media pages for highlights, photos, and more from @fabe.fl ! #NABE #FABE #BilingualEducation #MultilingualLearners #BESO #EducationalEquity
