Larvae Story / 2021 / Stop-Motion / Still#9 I made this 4-minute long stop-motion animation for the first time in 2021 for the first time. Three years later, I am sharing some still images on my feeds🙄 It was a simple story. Larvae live in a town built with recycled objects. They have their technology and culture. But the perpetual dust storms made their life difficult. So they made machinal facilities to beat up the dust! Once they start trying to overcome their ordeal, their active-life mode is turned on and they dance together. What a life! We usually have this concept that ‘the larva is undeveloped, and the butterfly is mature and successful.’ And we yearn for the butterfly‘s life. But should that be the ultimate ideal? I wanted to focus on the larva’s life. Larva‘s life and existence are intrinsic and intact. It is beyond the idea of ’what is better?‘ We all have unsatisfactory moments where we feel like we are not doing well enough. I wanted to create a space where we could let things be, accept them, and continue our life. The larvae party is a small party I made to celebrate and support our intact existence. I will upload some reels later. It is taking a while to upload things..! 2021 / Larvae Story / Stage Setup My first time stop motion animation Larvae Story was made in 2021. It was started in a very cold winter in Korea and ended in vibrant hot summer! Stage set was a bit funny because it was set on my bed frame. I took my mattress to the living room and let it sit there for 6 months so I had to hear my parents' criticizing me for the same period lol The town was built with trashes, and residue. The town where larvae live is not somewhere fancy and cool. It is left and recycled and worn-out.
