Today was Fasching in Austria, the same thing as Mardi Gras and Carnivale. It's the last day to party before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Graz threw a big party with a parade. Here are a few snaps. My favourite float is the one featuring "Greenland's polar bears seeking asylum in Styria" (the federal state of which Graz is the capital)
"When Despots and Oligarchs Want to Dance, Play La Marseillaise"
Analog collage for submission to the Paris Collage Collective's BAM! Festival de pop culture. The prompt was to reinterpret an iconic pop culture character through collage. My chosen pop icon is Victor Laszlo from the movie "Casablanca" and the scene from the movie where the character interrupts the Nazis singing by telling the house band to play "La Marseillaise." My desire is to illustrate the ways that people can try each day to disrupt the current rising tide of oligarchs and despots who seek to dictate how the world should run for their benefit alone.
