A couple of years ago, I first entered Naomi Venetiaan’s photography studio by the water in Amsterdam. I was looking for interesting local connections within a city that was completely new to Maiwe. What happened next was something I wasn’t expecting.
Do you know that feeling when you meet someone for the first time, and you can feel in your core this person is not just a passenger in life but someone with whom you’ll share a true connection? I can exactly recall how things felt the first time I met Naomi.
Naomi’s work is very much inspired by light, change and movement. I left her studio knowing we would come together again, convinced Maiwe had to be interpreted by her sensitive eye for beauty.
This Spring, we shot the campaign of our new Exfoliating Glow Mask together with @martilattanzi and @sarahbarakatt . On Monday, we are announcing a unique object we have created together with @lauracforever , to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Maiwe.
Visit the Journal for more on Naomi and the story behind our connection.

A little carrousel with my work. For the ones that never really got an introduction: here is a little bit about me, Naomi Venetiaan.
I am a photographer and videographer who's eye is drawn to chase the light at times of the day and smudgy shapes. I started a 'Gradient Goodbye' in 2015 and the first pieces whas created in 2018.
Now you can find my work all over the world. Next to that I also work together with other creatives to shoot their designed interiors, architecture, objects and brands which I love.
I have a studiospace / gallery @nj_space_amsterdam since 2018 filled with design pieces that I love in Amsterdam which is also rented out to brands and production houses, creatives and artists.
I've learned about myself that being a host is a welcome aspect in my live. I enjoy it. Cause I have the tendancy to be a litte bit of a einzelgänger. 👀
And I am a mother of my 6 year old son. He is an inspiration and reflection in my life and most of all my little Koek ('Cookie') as he goes by that name most of the time. 🍪 he's awesome.
Thats about it for now. Happy Saturday!

Naomi Venetiaan is a photographer whose work centers on the shifting qualities of light, time, and landscape. Born on the longest day of the year, her fascination with light, from dawn to dusk and across the seasons, has become a central thread throughout her practice. Through photography, she captures fleeting moments in nature where colour, water, movement, and atmosphere reflect the quiet rhythms of change.
Her work has been presented internationally and is part of private and corporate collections in cities including Vienna, Manila, Belgrade, London, Brussels, New York, and Moscow. Alongside her artistic practice, her photographic journey has led to the publication of her debut book and a growing body of work exhibited in galleries and interiors worldwide.
Traveling internationally since 2024, Embracing Flux brings together a series of photographic works that explore change, movement, and the subtle transformations of light over time.

Can't wait to be back at my workspace! To dive back into that archived work that didn't seem interesting , create new work and be at that critical fase of 'what am I doing' to decide it is going to work.
Thank you for all the trust in 2025. Let's make 2026 a good one together!
At night, the light in the space changes the way the artwork appears compared to during the day.
In my work, change in the final outcome is a must for me.
Nothing stays the same when seen from a different perspective
