On May 1, 2024, I spent Labor Day not in protest or rest, but in the company of Gazan refugees who have found temporary shelter in Don Antonio, Quezon City—a place they’ve named “Little Gaza.”
We sat together, shared meals, exchanged stories, and for a brief moment, I witnessed their laughter despite the weight they carry. Every conversation was a reminder of what they had left behind—their homes, families, and a sense of normalcy stolen by the crisis. Yet, even in their displacement, they hold onto their identity, their culture, and their dreams of returning to Palestine one day.
Alongside Sir
@raffylerma , we documented their experiences—the struggles of fleeing, the pain of loss, and the hope that still lingers in their hearts.
As of May 2025, the situation in Gaza has deteriorated further. Israeli airstrikes have resulted in significant civilian casualties, including attacks on shelters and schools. The blockade has led to severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, with aid agencies warning of a deepening humanitarian crisis.
Their stories deserve to be heard. Their humanity must never be forgotten. Now, more than ever, we must amplify their voices and stand in solidarity with them.
