My first Hyrox was with another mom. Our goal was simple. Finish it. Prove to ourselves we could do hard things. Send it. This one is with my husband. (later today) Mike is not a gym guy. He is, however, good at everything. Which is somehow more annoying than if he were actually a gym guy. He came out of his first outdoor run doing a 4:40/km pace. On ice. In winter. I was still looking for my running shoes. Since agreeing to do this together I have learned the following: I should be doing 50 wallballs a day. He bought a wallball and marked a spot on the house. What's so hard about it? Just run. Do the stations. I need to tell my body who is boss. He wants to WIN. Did I know this when I agreed? No. Am I mad about it? Also no. Is it a lot? Yes. Every Tuesday night for the past several months our 8 year old has come with us to 7pm Hyrox training. She has watched her mother suffer voluntarily while her father takes notes. I am objectively the weaker link this time. I was the stronger runner in my first race. I have since been humbled. We raced today in Ottawa. Wish us luck. Or wish Mike patience. Either works.

Coaches put everything into their content. The reels, the stories, the captions that took an hour to write. The audience shows up. They follow. They trust. And then they click the link in bio.
