Nicole & Felix waren lange Jahre im Leistungssport zu Hause. Heute entwickeln sie Kaffeefilter für den Specialty-Coffee-Bereich. Ihr @graycano Dripper kam bereits bei zahlreichen Competitions zum Einsatz – doch die Liebe zueinander und zum Kaffee brachte sie schließlich nochmal zurück in den Ursprung, nach Brasilien.

How do we harvest our coffee?🤔🪴🫘
At the @graycano My tree farm we use two main methods for harvesting,
one that is fully manual and one that is partially automated 👨🏻🌾🚜
1- Manual harvest 👩🏼🌾
Coffee cherries are picked completely by hand,
either by stripping the whole branch (more time-efficient)
or by individually removing each ripe cherry
-Suitable for areas where mechanical harvesters can't reach
-Great for specialty coffee as it ensures high quality by focusing on care and precision
-provides local employment
-makes it easier to identify any potential problems with the coffee
(Such as pests or diseased cherries)
-promotes a more in depth connection with the coffee production that
full mechanized harvesting doesn't allow
2- Mechanical shaker or vibrating harvester⚙️(semi mechanized)
Paddle-like machines with long "fingers" are used to shake the coffee trees in a controlled vibration, causing the ripe cherries to fall while minimizing damage to the tree itself
-Reduces manual labour dependence
-About 5-10 times faster than hand picking
-cheaper than full industrial mechanization
-suitable for smaller farms and areas where large tractors cannot operate

Inside of Brazil, most coffee farms are located in the state of Minas Gerais, which holds almost 50% of the country's coffee production, followed by the states of São Paulo and Espirito Santo
