āEvenings in Parisā, 500 pieces from
@ravensburgeranz
This is an older speed puzzle I completed in May 2024, which I decided to repeat this month just following the speed puzzling workshop held by
@meltownsend_ , employing some new tips and tricks, but also to see how far Iāve come with a lot of practice and training overall this year.
On my first run, I remember STRUGGLING. I hadnāt learnt so many things yet. I struggled with the detail of the bottom section, then got stuck thinking of what I should tackle next, before making my way through the sky and trees. I think I wouldāve left the border for last as I was constantly doing back then. My logged time on
@myspeedpuzzling is 1 hour 45 mins, with 4 pieces per minute. Under my two hour goal back then, but still, le sigh.
Sitting down in front of it again, my goal these days is under 90 minutes, with sub 80 minutes being a really great time for me. My second time around, it was border first, and then with my love of gradients, it was gradient first - working top down, plugging in the Eiffel Tower as I went, outlining the trees and edges of buildings but not filling them in. Then the bottom section was picking colour and pattern rather than detail. The only part that was the same was ending on the trees, with a quick bit of shape sorting.
My second time around? 1 hour 19 mins, a 2 piece per minute improvement and a 26 minute improvement overall. Absolutely stoked with that!
