Slow down and dive deeper 🧡 The point is to break the loop. Most of us run around on autopilot, we could be passing the same familiar location everyday but we wouldn’t notice the subtle changes. Use this method as an exercise, simple as that. Pretend like you’re there for the first time. And once you found three things, stop. Really focus on those three things and commit them to memory. It’s a way to appreciate small details that you likely never noticed before. You’ll soon enough notice that you’re creating your own little knowledge branches, like little rabbit holes that you intentionally choose yourself. You’re now in control, away from the auto pilot life.🧡

If you stop your scroll for a moment and look closely, you may see yourself. Beautiful, isn’t it?

George Orwell wrote 1984 while he was dying of tuberculosis, alone in a farmhouse in Scotland. What he wrote was barely fiction: The propaganda. The slow grinding down of people until they stop questioning anything. The way systems are built to make you feel small and confused and alone. And how the most rebellious thing you can do sometimes is just feel something real with another person.

Tarkovsky’s “Solaris” is about a space station orbiting a planet that reads your memory and sends it back to you in human form. It’s a film about grief, and guilt, and the unbearable desire to be given another chance with someone you lost. Tarkovsky wasn’t interested in outer space. He was interested in the interior. The way the past doesn’t stay past, the way love and regret are sometimes the same feeling.

Georgia O’Keeffe moved to the New Mexico desert at 62 and called it the most beautiful place on earth. She painted flowers so close they stopped being flowers, all curve and color. The bones, the red hills, the bleached sky: she found a whole visual language in a landscape most people drove through without stopping.

You will never be fully ready and there will never be a perfect time. @erifilii ’s solution: literally just do it. Words by Erifili Gounari – highly recommend reading the full essay on her substack, Crystal Clear (link in her bio)
