Announcing our 2025 Artists in Residence Cohort!
This week theater artists Matthew Antoci, James La Bella, Meaghan Robichaud, and Hannah Bird are in residence at the Barn.
Matthew Antoci (they/them) is a generative director, performer, producer, and curator based in New York City. They’ve shown and produced work onstage at La MaMa, MITU580, Invisible Dog, PS21 Chatham, Mercury Store, The Brick, Loading Dock, and Baryshnikov Arts Center.
James La Bella is a writer and dramaturg. His writing has been seen onstage with NYU Skirball, The Prelude Festival, PS21, Invisible Dog, The Civilians, WNYC’s Greene Space, Life World, The Brick and in print in McSweeney’s, The Washington Square Review, The Maine Review, and Extended Play. James is a Lambda Literary Fellow, O’Neill Finalist, and a 2024 Civilians R&D Group member. MFA Brown University.
Meaghan Robichaud (they/she) is a fearless performer whose work spans clowning, acting, directing, and writing. Their original work which includes theater, burlesque, and variety shows has appeared on stage at venues like Loading Dock Theater as part of Exponential Festival, The Brick, CATCH / The Invisible Dog, Brooklyn Art Haus, The Tank, Club Cumming, Purgatory, and The Kraine.
Hannah Bird (she/they) is a designer, director and artisan based out of Brooklyn. Her work has been seen onstage at The New School Theatre and Opera, WP Theater, The Public Theater, Playwrights Horizons, The Brick, The Tank, The Chain, Greenside at Edinburgh Fringe, 3 Dollar Bill, The Knockdown Center, Herbert Von King Park Amphitheater, Exponential Festival, Under the Radar, NYLA, and University of Evansville Theatre (of where she is an alumna, BS Theatre Studies 2020).
Matthew, James, and Meaghan all connected at Embodied Writing in 2022. Since then they have worked together on multiple projects at venues throughout NYC.
We are so excited to have these innovative artists here continuing their artistic practice in collaboration with each other. It feels full circle to see collaborators connect at a workshop and continue their work together on stages throughout NYC and now back here at the Barn where it all started.
