"Tell your story"
1309 is written and directed by Mazzy Mann

Last night at closing, I (Mazzy), said to the sold out crowd of my play 1309, "this is proof that fascism will not win"
Over the span of two years 1309 has had 8 showcases, has been attended by over 350 people, has had 60+ hands touched this project, and has changed the lives of many.
Writing 1309 was like opening Pandora's box, and when my darkest secrets became public front facing art, opened the doors for many families and young queer people to unpack their intergenerational family trauma, and have long conversations reflecting on their own experiences. Conversations have been had and the healing has begun.
The importance of telling your story in art is the exchanging of narrative and the unlocking of truth. It's bigger than an online post, it is the direct combatant to fascism, initiating real world change in the lives of others investigating and unpacking the ways in which the patriarchy has effected all of us, our families, and the context around othering, abuse, and abandonment.
Remember in this era, truth and your story is your freedom, and your voice is your liberation. No one can take that away from you. Please don't be afraid, my dear friend, be fearless. Because they are afraid, very afraid. When we can come together and share narrative, that binds us to a centuries old bond, whether it's in the year 1309, or in the year 2005, or now. We are unstoppable.
We are unerasable.
I want to thank so much the artists involved, the cast, the crew, the musicians,
@charlottestreetfoundation
which provided us a rocket grant, Calvin Arsenia and
