Thanks to @curatorialandco for this gorgeous artwork by Brett Anthony Moore for a recent commercial install. It’s illuminated by LED’s from behind and the colours come alive. We chose more subdued colours for this particular client and it really draws your eye at the end of a hallway #mvdrdesign #curatorialandco #melbournedesign
Not every design makes the grade. Here are 2 examples that that didn’t get there. The client has ended up with versions of each but things like working in equipment, the amount of display space and the size of tv are just a few of the many reasons why the design gets dumped or changed. Functionality must always be first with furniture design. Then, the fun part - getting it to look good #mvdrdesign #furnituredesign #melbournehomes
I know, I know!! It’s been forever since I’ve posted. Initially I had a good excuse with herniated discs in my neck then it was just laziness. Keeping it real…. However, my projects are still moving in and one of my favourites is the country property. So happy to see the plaster going and even some paint! Tiling is imminent and my client’s hearts and beating faster. 4 years in temporary accommodation. They are READY. Hope you like how it’s turning out. The pressed metal ceiling are still original - 150 years old. Still amazing. #mvdrdesign #countryhome #interiordesign #countryliving
This is my baby. 3rd child and last one to have her first day of the last year of high school. She’s such an exceptional human and I’m loving bearing witness to her growth and maturity. The future really is her oyster xxx 🦪
Shout out to my unbelievably talented niece Saskia Vander from @sass_artss on graduating from the National College of the Arts with an outstanding range of work. She’s such a clever dickie. #mvdrdesign #upcomingartist #art
A fabulous morning spent at #perawaymarble choosing a new solid stone benchtop for my client’s kitchen island. What an array! #mvdrdesign #melbournehomes #kitchenrenovation #interiordesign
Sometimes our services are small but mighty - like this addition to a home we installed last week but we actually renovated 7 years ago. The clients finally decided to add this last item which acts as a sort of room divider so the they have a separate space for their study. Doubles up as cocktail cabinet and secret kitchen appliance storage. #mvdrdesign #hbacabinetry #minkflamingo ( for the screen) #melbournehomes #roomdivider
Picked the perfect day to visit clients in the sticks yesterday. Their build is now coming along nicely although their original hopes of being in by Christmas have been sidelined. All coming along very well. Challenges we faced yesterday were, where to put the broom closet now that the heating manifolds are in that space ☹️. Where to pinch some pennies with the joinery. And how to treat the apex of the ceiling in the large open plan space. I always planned for a timber beam. The group is not decided on that one yet but I have a good idea up my sleeve. To be continued…. #mvdrdesign #countryhomes #interiordesign
It’s been a while ……. This gorgeous 170 year old place in the country is finally kicking on and starting to form the structure for its new life. Fabulous to see the rooms in 3D instead of 2D and great to sort out those inevitable tricky bits that pop up during construction. She’s coming along nicely. #jarradstinchcombebuilding #mvdrdesign #countrybuild #heritagehome
