This is for our sisters who have been carrying questions in silence.
You took your shahada. You started praying. You started learning. And then someone told you — quietly, sometimes harshly — that you may not be able to marry properly because your family isn't Muslim.
That is not the deen.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no nikah without a wali." (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi — graded Sahih)
A wali (your marriage guardian) must be a Muslim man. If your father is not Muslim, he cannot serve as your wali in nikah. But the deen did not leave you without an answer. In that case, the imam of your local masjid steps in as your wali. This is established fiqh. Imams across the U.S. do this regularly, and it is not unusual — it is the Sunnah.
Quick clarifications: — A wali is your protector in the process. He vets the suitor, asks the questions that need to be asked, and gives consent on your behalf. — Your full, free consent is still required for the nikah to be valid. A wali cannot force you. The Prophet ﷺ explicitly ruled out forced marriage (Bukhari). — Your mahr is your right — set by you, paid to you, never to your family.
Know the deen. It was given to protect you, not to push you out

The 10 days you cannot afford to sleep on.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these 10 days."
That is a weightier statement than most realize. It means a single act of worship in these 10 days carries more reward than the same act in any other days of the year — including, in this narration, the last 10 of Ramadan.
Dhul Hijjah 1447 begins Monday, May 18. The Day of Arafah falls on Tuesday, May 26. Eid al-Adha is Wednesday, May 27.
What to do starting Monday:
— Fast as many of the first 9 days as you can (especially Day 9 — Arafah)
— Increase in dhikr: SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah
— Read Qur'an daily — even one page
— Give sadaqah, even small and daily
Write your dua list for the Day of Arafah now
Save this. Send it to someone who needs the reminder.
Looking for a righteous spouse this Dhul Hijjah? Muzz is part of the effort — link in bio.
