Meet HALC Fellow Jiyoung Lee
Born in Korea and based in New York City, Jiyoung is an arts administrator and curator dedicated to uplifting Korean Artists in the U.S. as Director of Programs at the AHL Foundation. She leads curatorial projects, digital archives, and development initiatives that strengthen visibility and access for Korean and Korean American artists.
Her curatorial work includes Palettes & Plates: New York Korean Perspective (2024) and the ongoing Space Uptown series, while her leadership of the Archive of Korean Artists in America (AKAA) has expanded its digital and research reach. With a background in digital culture and communications, Jiyoung continues to bridge communities through art, storytelling, and preservation.

10년전 캄보디아에 혼자 여행을 갔던 것이 문득 생각나다. 무려 화양연화를 오마주한답시고 앙코르와트에 가서 혼자 벽에 대고 귓속말을 하려고 했다. 물론 길가에서 팔던 망고쥬스를 마시고 배가 아파 그럴 마음의 진물도 없이 탈수가 되어 귓속말을 커녕 몇키로의 체지방을 캄보디아에 두고 한국으로 돌아왔었지만. 비밀은 그렇게 전략적으로 짜고 치는 판이 아니었다는 걸. 으아아 그해 겨울이여 다시 환상을 가지고 살아갈 수 있을까. 그리고 올해 겨울.
