Two new classes from Kinga Bledsoe are coming up this July!! Both are brand new designs and one will only be available this summer here and the MOB.
The Buzz Bracelet (pictured) is a limited run kit and will only be available July 25th, here at the museum.
Party Animal is a fun, funky, and detailed piece being taught here for the first time on July 26th; virtual spaces available.

The Museum of Beadwork in Portland, Maine is calling for new, existing, or historic works categorized as craftivism, protest, and resistance art.
The “Piercing the Silence: Everyday Art of Resistance” exhibition's purpose is to unveil the value of craftivism, resistance, and protest art works and the people who created them. As for many, art is used to express a person’s inner emotions and as a way to externalize a lived experience. Call closes May 14th.
As a beadwork museum, we typically show a preference for beaded art, however, in this exhibit we accept all works, new or historic, created with needles as a primary tool including: knit/crochet, embroidery, quilting, leatherwork, cross stitch, and of course, beadwork.

Please join us in welcoming renowned artist Sherry Serafini and celebrating the opening of her newest exhibit on June 5th from 5-8pm!
Sherry’s beaded art is known internationally and is owned and worn by Grammy winner Melissa Etheridge, Lenny Kravitz, and singer Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. Sherry was voted one of the top 10 instructors in the United States by Bead & Button magazine. She lectures and teaches throughout the world, has been published and written articles for several well-known magazines, including being a featured artist in the 2024 Belle Armoire.
Her new exhibit will open June 5th and run through December, but for June's First Friday only will you be able to meet her is person! As always we will also have wine & NA beverages, snacks, an open gallery, lively conversations, and free parking!

Join us for MOB Draw, a figure drawing night held every third Thursday of the month. Our next night is May 21st, from 6-9pm.
This is an 18+ event with live models. Not interested in models? You are also welcome to set up in our gallery and “draw” your inspiration from our sculptural objects.
$15 per person at the door goes to cover the model with any additional funds going directly to our registered nonprofit. Bring your own materials but please no paint in the gallery, chairs and a few tables provided.

Botanic beadery is blossoming!
You’re invited to contribute to our latest Community Project, and this year’s theme is “Community Blooms.”
We want you to create beadwork flowers that will be part of a year-long exhibit in our Gallery. Once finished, the individual items are used in fundraising efforts for the Museum supporting the staff, development, and programs of this community-based institution.

There will be open gallery admission (though donations are greatly appreciated), light snacks, snappy conversation, and free parking!! We will have staff and guest artists on hand to talk to you about the marvels of Kumihimo OR just talk to you about the incredible art on display in our gallery!
We currently have four Guest Artists, a beadwork completion, community projects, permanent installations, and a dozen other cases filled to the brim. So join us and see something incredible!
