Spiritual Odyssey: A Solo Show by Khusro Subzwari
Muse Art Gallery warmly invites you to Spiritual Odyssey, a contemplative exhibition featuring the evocative “Whirling Dervishes” of Khusro Subzwari.
Rooted in the mystical verses of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi and the sacred ritual of the Sema, Khusro’s work is born of a profound spiritual encounter. While his connection to this theme began in Istanbul in 2011, it was deepened in 2025 at Rumi’s mausoleum in Konya. Standing where the poet lived and transcended, Khusro rediscovered his subject in the silence between the dervishes’ turns.
The Inspiration
Guiding this series is Rumi’s Ode 1668 — “The Body is Too Slow for Me.” These are not paintings of a performance; they are renderings of the soul outpacing the self in its hunger for the Divine. Through expressive figures in motion, Subzwari captures the tilt of a frame and the sweep of a robe as a body gives itself over completely to transcendence.
