Recovery looks different for every child. For some, it's learning to speak again. For others, it's holding a spoon, standing up, or walking down the hallway for the first time after a serious illness or injury. At MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, the inpatient pediatric rehabilitation team helps children work toward those moments every single day while allowing families to stay closer to home during recovery. Read more about how this program is helping children across South Carolina through the link in our bio. #ImWhatsPossible

5 years. Thousands of hospital hallways walked. Countless families reminded that someone cares 💛 The Hospitality Cart continues to bring comfort directly to families with our partnership at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and the R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion. In 2025 alone, the cart served more than 94,000 people with snacks, drinks, toiletries, activities, and moments of kindness during long hospital days. What may seem like a small gesture can mean everything to a parent spending hours at their child's bedside. Thank you to every volunteer, donor, supporter, and partner who has helped keep this program rolling for the past five years. Want to help stock the cart? Donate today at the Wish List in our bio 🔗

It takes an entire team of specialists to care for children with serious medical conditions. At MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and across our statewide hospitals, pediatric perfusionists play a critical role during complex heart surgeries and in intensive care settings. They operate and manage advanced heart and lung support systems that maintain circulation and oxygenation when a child’s heart or lungs need help during a procedure. Their work might happen quietly in the background, but it’s essential to life-saving care. #ImWhatsPossible

Late-night fevers and unexpected sick days don’t always need an urgent care visit. @MUSCHealth virtual care helps families connect with a live provider from anywhere in just a few simple steps for guidance, treatment recommendations, and prescriptions. We spoke with Emily Warr from the Center for Telehealth about why virtual care continues to be an important option for families. Want to learn more? Tap the link in our bio. #ImWhatsPossible

As children spend more time outside this spring and summer, safety is top of mind for many families. Dr. Silvia Pereira-Smith, developmental pediatrician at MUSC, recently joined Health Focus to talk about wandering in children with autism and developmental disabilities. She shares what can trigger wandering behaviors, why these situations can become dangerous so quickly, and practical ways families can help keep children safe at home and in the community. Some lessons in nursing start long before the first shift. This Mother’s Day, we’re sharing stories from MUSC Children’s Health nurses whose path into care began with watching their mothers. That inspiration shaped the nurses they are today and continues to guide how they care for children and families every day. Tap the link in our bio to read their stories and join us in celebrating all mothers who inspire what’s possible. #ImWhatsPossible

Charlie’s mom called MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center before heading to the ER with her six-year-old son after severe bleeding following a tonsillectomy. The response: “We’re ready for him.” A room was waiting when they arrived, and Charlie received emergency surgery that same night. We’re proud to provide emergency care for kids and families across South Carolina, bringing quality care closer to home for the communities we serve. Learn more about our Lancaster location through the link in our bio. #ImWhatsPossible

What an incredible day at MUSC’s first-ever ECMO reunion! Pediatric families who were once treated at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital came together to reconnect, share their stories, and spend time with others who truly understand their journey. ECMO is a form of life support that assists the heart and lungs while the body heals. For many families, it signifies a critical turning point in their care. “My wish for these patients is that they can recover physically in terms of organ function and physical strength, but also in their mental strength,” said Dr. Luca Paoletti. Swipe to see some of our favorite moments from this special day and read more through the link in our bio. #ImWhatsPossible

Caring for kids doesn't happen in just one room or one role. It happens at the bedside, in clinics, and behind the scenes through collaboration across pediatric clinics and hospitals throughout South Carolina. Today is MUSC Day, a statewide day of giving that supports care, research, and access to services for children as part of a broader effort to advance health care across our state. Want to be part of it? Support this annual day of giving through the link in our bio. #ImWhatsPossible
