Some conversations take years to be ready for.
This is the most personal episode I’ve ever recorded. And I don’t say that lightly.
I sat down with my mother. We talked about motherhood, sacrifice, love — and the things time has quietly helped us understand about each other.
My mother has never shared her story publicly. Not once.
In this conversation, she talks about what happens when the man you love lets you down. What you carry after that. What you hide from your children. What you never say out loud, until now.
Some of it was hard to sit through. Some of it felt like something finally releasing.
I don’t take lightly that she chose to do this. That she chose to do it with me. That is an honour I will hold for the rest of my life.
Please be gentle with your mothers. You genuinely have no idea how much they are carrying, and how much of it they carried so you wouldn’t have to.

Happy Mother’s Day!
This Wednesday we have a very special episode with Musa in conversation with her mother.

You don’t want to miss this one!
“Across everything, there’s one consistent thread: you make complex things feel human.
Whether it’s a student who’s just arrived in London, a reader learning about photography, a couple on their wedding day, or an intern who needs mentoring, you instinctively know how to meet people where they are and communicate in a way that lands.
That’s not a soft skill. That’s your competitive advantage.”
Sometimes you have to just read a message from Claude and go about your day 😎

I attended the Sony World Photography Awards last week and wow!
The ceremony, the exhibition, interviewing some of the winners - a 10/10 experience! And I could listen to @joel_meyerowitz all day!
Congratulations @citlalifabian the Sony Photographer of the Year!
And if you haven’t, please do check out the winning photos, they are really inspiring.
And that’s the thing about great photography. It doesn’t just show you the world, it pulls you into it.
I walked around that exhibition quietly reminded of why I picked up a camera in the first place. Why telling stories visually is one of the most powerful things a human being can do.
Thank you @sony.unitedkingdom for the invitation. Genuinely one for the books !
Honestly, I didn’t realise how much I’ve done in the first quarter of until I started putting this together.
That’s the thing about being in it, you’re just moving. Head down, next task, next shoot, next event. You just do it and keep going.
But then you look back and you’re like… oh! I did all of that.
The writing, the shooting, the editing (sometimes all in the same week!). And still smiling. Still going.
I think sometimes we forget that what feels normal to us looks like a lot to someone else. That while we’re busy doubting ourselves, there are people genuinely inspired by how we move.
So yeah. This is me reminding myself (and maybe you too) not to be so hard on yourself. You’re doing more than you think. It just looks different from the inside.

Now that the podcast has taken off, I’m slowly returning to sharing more of my creative life again. Because the truth is, I’m a multi-passionate creative.
Some of you found me through photography. Some through marketing. Some through International Students House. Some through Amateur Photographer. And some through the podcast.
I know my audience has landed here for different reasons, but I hope you stay. Stay to witness the different hats. Stay for the weddings and the corporate shoots. Stay for the office days and the strategy meetings. Stay and enjoy all my crazy ideas, because the truth is I just love creating. Whether I’m in the office leading comms or behind the camera capturing someone’s special day or sitting across from Fadzie having honest conversations about womanhood - it’s all creation.
And this year, I’m committed to creating from alignment.
One of the greatest gifts in all of this has been meeting Fadzie.
Our connection is easy. The conversations flow so naturally that sometimes I genuinely think… where have you been all my life?
Her Chapter doesn’t feel forced. It doesn’t feel performative. It’s just two women bonding over a cup of tea while enjoying a good conversation.
And as someone who creates for a living, that matters to me, because production is not light work. We’re not only on the mic — we’re editing, planning, filming, producing and gradually building a community.
But when something feels aligned, the work feels different. It’s still work, but the kind that you look forward to doing, and that you know you’re doing it with someone who is passionate about it too.
I’m grateful for the growth, the discipline and the partnership that Her Chapter has brought.
And grateful that you’re listening! Thank you to everyone who has subscribed , shared a reel, commented and given us their thoughts on the issues we discuss.
In January, @withfadzie sent me a message - ‘Let’s start a podcast’. And I replied “Let’s do it!”
And we did and we laugh about this every day!
I dedicated February to launching the podcast. Not “soft launch.” Not “let’s see how it goes.” Not squeezed in between everything else. A full month.
For 28 days, I posted about nothing else. My entire feed reflected one thing: Her Chapter.
And let me tell you… that required focus.
Because I’m not just one thing. I’m a photographer. I’m a marketing professional. I’m an events coordinator. But this year is about alignment for me. And alignment sometimes looks like narrowing your focus long enough to build something properly.
February was intentional. February was disciplined. February was obedience to the vision.
And now I’m so grateful I did.
Now I can add Podcast Co-Host and Producer to the list.
As we start a new week, I want to remind you of something I’m learning too.
You’re not behind.
You’re not late.
You’re in a season.
And seasons are different.
Even when they feel slow.
Even when you thought you’d be somewhere else by now.
Be present for each one, embrace it fully and take the lessons with you when you move into the next one.
~ Musa
Life isn’t one straight story, it’s a book of seasons.
Some chapters are loud and full of movement.
Others are quiet, reflective, and slow.
Some stretch on longer than we expected, shaping us in ways we only understand later.
Every season has a purpose. Every chapter is doing something in you, even the ones you didn’t choose.
So tell us… what chapter are you in right now?
We’re live!!!🎙️✨
Her Chapter begins here.
A space for honest conversations about the seasons of womanhood.
This first episode is an introduction to the heart behind the podcast, the why, and the kind of stories we’re here to hold.
If you’ve ever felt like you needed conversations with a sister or a friend, this space is for you.
Episode 1 out now!!
