thank you for all the love you’ve shown ‘pretty ugly’, the response has been pretty overwhelming to be honest. we weren’t sure if a song referencing machinery designed to facilitate complex medical procedures would connect, but we wrote this thing with raw honesty and we’re immensely proud it’s out there in the world for you to rock with.
it had been a long time since we felt the need to spit venom in song, but when you’re going through something as personal and life altering as we did whilst writing and recording it, you’re kinda left with no choice. I won’t go too much into it but after my dad’s cancer diagnosis I had a recurring dream where I would exist in a barren wasteland like town named ‘pretty ugly’, hence the line, “hollywood couldn’t write what I dream at night in pretty ugly”. strange place, wouldn’t recommend visiting.
