It's the most wonderful time of the year!🐍
Our first Gray Ratsnake sighting of the year is Zygarde!
It is especially exciting to find Zygarde as he was first seen at the park in 2015. Since 2015, Zygarde has grown 56 centimeters.
We look forward to more sightings in the 2026 season!✨
During our colour tour around Murphys Point you may have noticed several photos of dragonflies and damselflies. Staff conduct surveys of these amazing fliers to see who calls Murphys Point home.
Check out the blog post "The fascinating world of dragonflies and their importance to ecosystems" from our friends at Algonquin (link to the OP blog in bio).
Thank you to everyone who came on our colour journey around Murphys Point Provincial Park!
We would love to see your favourite colours from Murphys Point - drop your photos below. 👇

The last stop on our colour tour of Murphys Point is metallics and iridescents. While not colours per se we just couldn't leave them off the list!
Shiny and sparkly these colours catch the light and remind us that while all that glitters is not gold, that doesn't mean there isn't joy to be found.

Prepare for purple! Murphys colour walk is nearing the end of the rainbow!
Purple is regal and vibrant. Purple reminds us of the many wildflowers that call Ontario home, the playful movements of damselflies and that sometimes magic can be hidden (like in the wings of a moth or the underside of a mushroom).

Welcome to the next stop on our colour tour of Murphys, beautiful brown!
Brown is rich and soft. Brown floods our senses with the taste of hot chocolate, the smell of the earth in spring, and the sight of a beaver building a dam.

Not the most common colour to see at Murphys Point, but it certainly pops! The next stop on our colour walk is pink!
Pink is positive and vivacious. Pink reminds us of evenings spent watching the sun set, strawberry ice cream from the park store and colourful wildflowers spotted in field and forest.
