Music has always been where I go when things feel too intense.
It’s the one place that slows everything down.
But when something becomes your hiding place, it also ends up being where you’re most exposed.
There are parts of my childhood I still don’t fully understand.
If I’m honest, I spent a long time trying to skip past some of the feelings and memories because it felt like talking about it gave it more power.
Writing songs about it now feels easier.
I’m not sure why. It just does.
It’s become my way of sitting next to mini MURPHY and letting him know he’s going to be OK.
For a long time I thought home had to be a physical place.
Turns out it doesn’t.
“I know it may not have four walls,
but I hope for you this feels like home.”
🧡
MURPHY. Half of my name and yet it’s only now that it’s being explored. My Dad and cousin were both musicians but yet for all this time, I didn’t feel able to tap into that side of who I am. I ultimately never felt comfortable writing songs of my own. Almost as if a mental wall was blocking an area of vulnerability which was scary to process. For whatever reason that wall shifted three months ago and songs started to appear. I wanted to speak to that young version of myself and unpack all these feelings that I had neglected previously. Musical therapy if you will. I hope mini MURPHY is proud and happy I did this.
Also the “it takes a village” reference is so accurate. SO many people to thank through this process who have actively encouraged this journey behind the scenes. Thank you so so so much. None of it went unnoticed.
This is the first of many songs. I hope they give you even half as much joy as making them is giving me 🧡🔥
PS. The blue hair is the current location of the song on Apple Music…

Me and @Murphy have a track out today.. this one is special as we’ve been friends for about 10 years, originally meeting in a bar in Leeds. We ended up becoming super close friends on a trip to Qatar when i was playing a gig for Ministry of Sound in Doha. On the flight home we saw some Qatari’s with falcons next to their seats (a cultural sign of prestige and honour), and so we made a promise we’d one day get falcons on our own on a flight.
We ended up working on events, stages and everything else aside from actually making music together while we both followed different directions. A few months ago we were in our friend Jay weathers studio at 2am and we decided to finally make a track together.. MURPHY hadn’t put his voice out there before so this track really started a new chapter for us both
