These past 12 months have been an absolute adventure.
Just a year ago, I was returning from a semester of studying in London and traveling Europe. After returning home and visiting Ithaca for a few days, I road-tripped across the US to Sun Valley, Idaho, to spend the summer working at an outdoor venue. I had a great time in Sun Valley, working on some cool events, spending time with new friends, and making memories. From there, I drove directly back to Ithaca to complete my fall semester. During that semester, I was the production electrician on 3 shows, 2 main stage productions in the Center for Theatre and Dance, as well as the inauguration of Ithaca College's new president. On top of that, my classmates and I presented our senior exhibit. Over winter break, after spending a few weeks at home, I traveled to Israel on a birthright trip, where I once again spent lots of time with new friends and created life-long memories. From Israel, I traveled to Athens, Greece, with Molly, where we spent a few days exploring before returning to Israel and then returning home. I quickly returned to Ithaca to complete my final semester at Ithaca College, during which I was the mixing engineer for our main stage musical and the production electrician for the commencement eve concert and commencement ceremonies.
Just a few weeks ago, I graduated from Ithaca College magna cum laude and with departmental honors with a B.F.A. in Theatre Production and Design, with a Technology Concentration and a minor in Live Event Design and Management.
Yesterday I left my home in Acton, MA, not knowing when I will return. I've begun an extended road trip to DeKalb, IL, where I will be living and working full-time. I accepted a full-time salaried position at Upstaging, Inc., an Illinois-based international event and concert lighting touring company.
I could not be more excited to be moving on to this next step in life, but it’s not without sadness as I look back on everything I have done and everybody that I have met in these past few years.
I look forward to the days when I can see my family and friends again in person and learn about all the adventures that they have been on.
