12 months ago life changed for me. I had been experiencing some physical changes and concerning symptoms. After bloodwork and a biopsy, I was diagnosed with stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma. It was the most terrifying moment of my life, a dissociative out-of-body experience. Seeing my PET scan results was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen. My body was lit up like a christmas tree and my spleen was glowing white from being enlarged, trying to process the impacted lymph. There was cancer everywhere. My diagnosis historically had about a 60% success rate, but because of cancer research and a new treatment that had been approved just 9 months prior it was now about 90%. I was scared. I was hopeful. After 6 months of chemo I had another PET scan and found out I was in remission. It was one of the best moments of my life. My oncologist Dr. Adada saved my life. My oncology Nurse Navigator Abueg saved my life. All of the incredible oncology nurses that cared for me, comforted me, and administered my chemotherapy and immunotherapy saved my life. I owe them everything. I’m the luckiest person in the world to have such incredible family and friends, I love you all so dearly. @nattles.l I love you more than you will ever know. More than anything. More than everything. Feeling like and thinking you’re going to die soon, long before you’ve grown old is excruciating. I’m so grateful I don’t have to live in that headspace anymore. I can’t wait to live the rest of this life. Full of love, full of gratitude. Follow your dreams and live your best life, we’re only here for so long.
