Thank the NBCC, The National Alliance for Black Business co-founded by the National Business League, National Black Chamber of Commerce and World Conference of Mayors named Rolling Out National Black Media and News of the Year for the 123rd National Black Business Conference started by Booker T. Washington. “We Are Together” theme family. The previous ancestors who had the nerve to be in the media business and tell the stories of our community. I’m a proud Morehouse grad and had the opportunity to start my business in the city of Atlanta working alongside history makers and making history of my own at Rolling Out. The media business was a tough one when I decided to start but I knew we needed to be in charge of our own narrative and public image. The business has continued to be tough. Shrinking newsrooms, shrinking budgets, increased need for technology and diverse skill sets. But the mission still holds true. That we are telling our stories and harnessing the power of media and storytelling to create and advance movements, shine a light on issues that matter to our communities and always always always, celebrate our greatness. I’m humbled and honored to receive this recognition from a distinguished organization who is in that movement to empower our communities across the world. Thank you to the Black Attorney General Ben Crump for keep up a fight against those would choose to deny us our economic and constitutional rights.

Motivational Mondays is a beautiful place to be when you know the reason you’re motivated to do things that will last throughout eternity. It is those things that we do and create for people who have not walked down those paths. To create new and powerful statements of understanding by creating methods like books, films and toys each day. This is the motivation that moves our culture in a positive way.

Marlee was a darling who ran away with my heart when she picked up her copy of Little Professor Skye’s Favorite Things. When she took it, my dreams, hopes and hard work for moving forward took wings.
