The pattern card is a representation of a design, punched with rows of tiny holes - each row corresponding to a single line of the pattern. ā
As the card is fed through the loom, it controls which warp threads are lifted and which are left down, guiding the interlacing of threads that creates the final design.ā

The Harrington Chair, made in collaboration with @mungodesign for CTFW back in February this year. Mungo is a South African textile mill based in Plettenberg Bay, weaving fabric from natural fibres on century-old looms. The decision to collaborate with them for CTFW felt like a natural fit: two South African makers, both committed to material honesty and longevity, working in different mediums.
