Saturday 18th April @outernational_tw returns to @ku_since2024 for another Outernational Jazz session. This time we have invited @_tarolin to come and play some records alongside residents @yoheyli and @ouyubeats Inspired by Underground Hip Hop, _tarolin is a beatmaker using classic sampling drum machines like the MPC2000XL and S950. At heart, he’s a rare groove record collector, constantly uncovering unusual sounds and ideas from the past. Munchie @munchiemunmun is a vinyl hunter and language expert who immerses himself in the rare groove universe, shaped by the unique interpretations of different cultures. He longs for nothing but the glamour of the ’80s, believing it was an era when art envisioned the future before science could extinguish human fantasy. For hunting rare vinyl, he frequently scoured the ever-changing vinyl stall beneath Fuhe Bridge, visiting so often that he became friends with the shop owner. When invited to the owner‘s home, he was astonished to discover a true vinyl treasure trove—the collection at the bridge was merely the tip of the iceberg. Anyone who has experienced Munchie’s gig knows how effortlessly he crafts an infectious atmosphere. His Mandarin and Cantonese vinyl collection spans various golden eras, featuring numerous out-of-print gems—”Only in a kaleidoscope of colors can true flavor be found“ stands as his motto. Recently, Munchie opened a vinyl bar in Taipei called ”Ku窟 @ku_since2024 “—a space not only for sharing his treasured records and music culture but also for gathering like-minded music lovers to exchange ideas. As for why it’s called ”窟,“ those with a Taiwanese-Mandarin (Bopomofo) keyboard might notice the hidden clue that ties his passion directly to the name.
