ASEYIN WARNS OKE OGUN OBAS AGAINST IMMORAL USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND UTTERANCES SOWING SEEDS OF DISCORD
A call has gone to Obas and Chiefs in Oke Ogun against unhealthy use of social media and utterances capable of threatening the existing peace and unity in the region.
This admonition was contained in a press release issued by the Aseyin of Iseyinland and Chairman of Obas and Chiefs in Oke Ogun, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I, and made available to journalists as a reaction to an ill-conceived communiqué issued by some monarchs after their unofficial meeting held in Okeho.
According to the release, the monarchs involved in the meeting do not possess the authority to pass a vote of no confidence on the leadership of the traditional institution in Oke Ogun, especially when their mission appears politically motivated.
The statement further noted that the allegations of maladministration, misconduct, and unilateral actions levelled against the personality of the Aseyin would be addressed appropriately, adding that the Obas who signed the communiqué should be prepared to defend their actions in line with the laid down rules and regulations guiding the Council.
“As a royal father and custodian of the culture and traditions of Iseyinland, I have never been found wanting but have remained committed to attracting socio-economic growth and development to the ancient city,” Aseyin clarified.
He explained that he is statutorily empowered to seek appointments with influential personalities and stakeholders across the country for the purpose of facilitating development to Iseyinland, adding that such efforts can equally benefit the entire Oke Ogun region by virtue of his position as Chairman.
