Like so many of you, we’re saddened to hear that elder Eric Huntley - archivist, community activist and campaigner - has departed. 🤍🕊️ Eric was one of the people we interviewed in 2021 for our podcast series ‘The Oral Tradition’, a part of the Black Digital Archiving project. Eric and his wife, Jessica Huntley (who passed in 2013), were foundational members of the Black radical education movement and campaigns in the UK from the 60s onward. They were founding members of the Caribbean Education and Community Workers Association, the Black Parents Movement, set up the Joint Workshop Action Committee and were organisers of the 1981 Black People’s Day of Action March and Supplementary School Movement. A lot of the work we do at Multitudes follows in the radical Black tradition of people like Eric and Jessica. We’re spending today revisiting his episode and honouring both of their memories. May he rest in power. ✊🏽 Thank you for everything, Eric. 🙏🏽✨ 🔗: blackdigitalarchives.org/podcast/eric-huntley #erichuntley

🍉 We are now out of consultation slots! 🍉 We are amazed by the many responses we've been getting in response to our post about migrating from Wix. When we made our call out to boycott the platform we did it with grassroots groups in mind. We didn't expect our post to reach such a wide audience. While we can't provide detailed support to everyone who reached out (we're a really small co-op), we are determined to help as many people as we can to dump Wix. We've put together a guide on migrating from Wix to Squarespace (link in bio). This guidance is made primarily for personal sites. We will continue our work with grassroots movement groups to divest from digital tools that support the ongoing settler-colonialism and genocide of Palestinians and other oppressed peoples. #freepalestine #boycottwix #notechforapartheid

🚫 Is your website built with Wix? 🚫 Wix is a website builder software company based in Tel-Aviv and openly supports Israel’s genocide against Palestinians. If you currently use Wix and would like to learn what a migration would entail, we're offering free consultations on how this might be done and what costs might be involved specific to your site. Get in touch at hi[@]multitudes.coop Link to further evidence on Wix’s complicity in Israeli apartheid: /ireland/2023/10/24/internal-wix-chat-encouraged-staff-to-support-israels-narrative-in-hamas-conflict/ #freepalestine #boycottwix #boycottisrael #ceasefirenow

It has never been more important to centre the voices of Palestinians and their experiences of settler colonialism and apartheid under Israeli occupation. In 2022, the amazing @skindeepmag launched a series exploring Palestinian lives and their dreams for a future free of subjugation and oppression, focusing on queerness, Blackness and incarceration. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their fight for freedom and justice. #freepalestine, today, tomorrow and forever. /seasons/palestine-ways-of-being Alt text: Palestinians of different ages stand strong together with fists raised. Set against a backdrop of the skyline of Gaza, along with the imposed barbed wire border being pushed open by the Palestinian resistance. The word 'Gaza' appears across the image in Arabic text. A project close to our hearts is Africans in the Diaspora, part of the Africa programme at Thousand Currents. @_africansinthediaspora supports a network of partners all working in solidarity with other Africans to address the challenges of climate justice, food sovereignty and alternative economies. The result of our collaboration was a brand identity and other design assets to facilitate the pooling of knowledge, skills and financial resources across diasporic Africans and programme partners. Follow AiD and support their amazing work! #AiD #AfricansInTheDiaspora #ThousandsCurrents #FoodSovereignty #ClimateJustice #AlternativeEconomies #Solidarity #Blackdesign #Justdesign #DesignJustice #BlackDesigners #GraphicDesign #ResponsibleTech #Coop #Cooperative

In Dec 2021, @paidtopollute , a campaign by Uplift, took the UK government to court. Multitudes worked with Uplift to centre the stories of the claimants in the case, while amplifying the issues of legal and economic support for continued fossil fuel extraction in the UK. Support their case by signing the petition and donating on paidtopollute.org.uk #PaidToPollute #MakePollutersPay #ClimateJustice #ClimateAction #Environment #Blackdesign #Justdesign #DesignJustice #BlackDesigners #GraphicDesign #ResponsibleTech #Coop #Cooperative
