Our work INVOKING PIRANESI-on show at the SHED exhibition. Details in following images. In recent years there has been much debate around urban regeneration in South Australia—in particular about the removal of traces of inner harbor industry. This issue became highly charged around the demolition of SHED 26 at Port Adelaide.
While SHED 26 no longer exists we see the expression of its form as a resonant vessel that contains stories and ideas that are important to us and to how we think about urban space.
The work itself is built around the idea of what might be/have been/could be and the world that could be created within the physical confines of this large urban vessel. On the outside it is simply another mid-century workshop building but once you cross the threshold by peering into the windows a whole other vast world of interpretations is revealed. Invoking Piranesi reflects the fantastical nature of a past industrial world and endless possibilities. @tony_kearney_10@sandofelicity@coupeanthony@goolia_ #adlfringe #shed #shed26
Our installation GHOST SHEDS is currently exhibited in SHED - details last slide.
The work explores the notion of presence in absence— of memories and traces held within the ghosts of absent SHEDs.
In the early 2000’s we undertook cultural mapping and survey projects recording a number of Port Adelaide’s Inner Harbor sheds. It was a very hands-on process—physically touching, measuring and recording buildings and artefacts, as well as collecting oral histories. Some of our manual recordings of those buildings are seen on these printed surfaces. Most of these SHEDS no longer exist - but the memory and record of them remain in both physical recordings and in peoples’ memories–as a form of ghost. @tony_kearney_10@sandofelicity@coupeanthony #adlfringe #shed

The belvedere has arrived in Venice. This was fabricated with the help pf many volunteers in a shed in Port Adelaide, and will form the centrepiece of the biennale exhibition in the Australia Pavilion
