Sneak peek of my second book, Minimalist Soapmaking. šŸ’• Pre-order link on my website at muddymint.com. I’ve been working on this book non-stop since August and I’m closing in on the finish line (finally!). I’m super excited about these soaps, recipes, and the simple process that I teach. The hardest part for me is always the photos, but I’m so happy with the results! I hope you love it. If you have questions about this book, ask away!

Meet my next book: Minimalist Soapmaking! šŸ’• I am so so excited to announce that my 2nd book, Minimalist Soapmaking, will be released on August 25, 2026 through @pagestreetpublishing . It is currently available for pre-order if you’d like a copy the day it comes out. I’ll be doing a little pre-order freebie, which I’ll announce in a couple of months. 😊 This book is the culmination of what I learned making large batches of soap, but applied to small batch making. It’s for brand new soapmakers and for those of you who’ve been making soap for a while, but are interested in an efficient process that doesn’t take much time. This book is kind of like a recipe book for busy people. You’ll learn all kinds of fun new tips and tricks for soapmaking, while also learning how to use infusions for bright natural colors and adding purĆ©es to your soap. Everything in this book can be broken down into an easy formula, which makes soapmaking super approachable and fun. This book is quite different from my first book with 30 brand new recipes, but still uses a 1:1 lye water solution. It includes a fun trick for quickly warming up your lye water and invites experimentation in every recipe. Each recipe includes a variation, so you can create nearly 60 different soaps in this book. And the best part is that you don’t need a lot of ingredients! Just 3-4 base oils, 5 essential oils, and a handful of natural colorants and you can make every recipe in this book. The emphasis is on simple, natural, and fun! Minimal ingredients, clean minimalist design, but lots of variety. Like my first book, there are tons of beautiful illustrations of every single soap, plus detailed process photos. I can’t wait to share more! Drop your questions in the comments, if you have any.

I wrote (and photographed) a soapmaking book and I can’t wait to share it with you!! It is now available for pre-order in the US, Canada, and the UK (see link in my profile). I worked with an amazing team @pagestreetpublishing to make this book a reality. It’s available as a print book and an ebook. I spent the last year pouring my heart and soul into these 200 pages and it is packed full of soapy goodness for beginners and advanced soapmakers alike! This book is gorgeous and you might just want to lay it out on your coffee table! Here’s a sneak peek of the cover. The book contains: šŸƒ Thirty-one brand new soap recipes that I created exclusively for this book. Every recipe is all-natural and palm oil free. šŸƒ Formulation tips and tricks and substitution ideas for each recipe. Basically, I go through my thought process on why I chose certain oils and why I created the recipe the way I did. šŸƒ How to make and store a 50/50 lye water solution so you can create a master batch of lye-water for all your recipes. This is an absolute game-changer in soapmaking and I haven’t seen any other soapmaking book present recipes this way. šŸƒ How to easily include alternative liquids in soap, like milk, carrot juice, aloe vera, or basically anything else! šŸƒ A list of my top 12 essential oils for blending, with the exact botanical names of the oils I use and where I buy them. šŸƒ My techniques for formulating essential oil blends specifically for cold process soap, which is NOT the standard top, middle, and base note advice. I find this advice to be overly complicated and confusing and I’ve never blended my essential oils this way. I’ll teach you my special tricks for blending which are easy and lead to consistent results every time. šŸƒ And a lot more! (see full list at muddymint.com) This book is for YOU! I wrote it with you in mind. Seriously. You are my audience and you are exactly who I wrote this book for. I hope you love it. XO, Simi

The book soap release is on Friday at 9am MDT (at muddymint.com)! I’ve been posting stories about everything, so check those out in my highlights if you missed them. Here’s the run-down: šŸƒ Be online at 9am Mountain Time to grab your goodies. These will be available at muddymint.com only. Look for ā€œMinimalist Collectionā€. šŸƒ Pro Tip: If you create an account and login, you’ll be able to check out faster. If you’re using Shop or another form of payment, make sure your email and address are correct. šŸƒ We will be selling book soap bundles (pictured). This is a pack of four soaps from the book and I put all the bundles together individually with lots of thought, so they are all different and all good! This is a mix of scented and unscented soaps. There are at least 2-3 scented soaps in every bundle and they are all really pretty with great ingredients. I used the Nurture Shea soap recipe from my book for all these soaps. They are all-natural and palm oil free. Some may contain goat milk and/or honey, so while most bars are vegan, they aren’t all vegan. šŸƒ We are also selling bundles of colorful soap bars (unscented). These use the Nurture Shea recipe as well, but all these bars are vegan. They are the soaps I made for my color experiments and you’ll get four different colors. šŸƒ We’ll have base recipe bundles. These include lovely white (unscented) bars of Nurture Shea, Tallow, and Tallow & Shea soaps. šŸƒ We’ll have soap blocks! These are blocks of baby soap made with goat milk and oatmeal. They’re not just for babies of course, but great for sensitive skin. These will be sold individually and are unscented. šŸƒ We’ll have Scrap Pack bundles for $25. You’ll get four soaps that weren’t quite pretty enough for the other bundles. Mostly unscented, but there are a few scented soaps in there as well. šŸƒ Shipping is a flat rate of $7 and every order comes with a sample. šŸƒ Soaps are not labeled, but if you email me a picture of your order, I’ll let you know what you got. :) I will not be posting the soaps (other than what you’ve seen and heard in my stories) as they are a surprise for my book. :) I think that’s everything! ā¤ļø

SAVE THE DATE: May is soap release month!! Everything I made for my upcoming book, Minimalist Soapmaking, will be available for sale on Friday May 15th at 9am Mountain Time! Nearly all of these bars are shea butter soaps that will feel similar to our Orange & Bergamot soap base. There will be quite a lot of unscented bars from my natural color experiments (like the ones pictured here) as well as the final bars from the book and many scented options. I will probably provide these as bundles of four bars and prices will be discounted, as you won’t be able to choose specific soaps or scents. These soaps will all be amazing shea butter bars with lovely ingredients, but some of the scents may be on the lighter side, with a some exceptions. I’m trying to figure out how to optimize this release so that you get what you want without me having to list hundreds of different options. I’ll keep you updated on what I decide, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know in the comments. Can’t wait to share these little gems with you guys! And, if you’re interested in my book, you can pre-order it now at muddymint.com! šŸ©µšŸ’›šŸ’œ

Note to self: take wet soap photos for my next book! I had to remake this soap recipe today for my 2nd book, Minimalist Soapmaking, and I’d forgotten how beautiful the color of the batter was! This one is called Sweet Little Moments and this color is from an alkanet root infusion. There’s also a surprise inside! ;) The last thing on my mind when I’m creating is taking photos, as the process can be messy and unpredictable. šŸ˜‚ But, wet soap is just so luscious! šŸ˜

I’ve clearly overcome my Instagram addiction and haven’t even checked back since I last posted. I guess it is possible to wean yourself from the gram! I promised myself I’d post a new photo, as it’s been a while since you guys have seen anything new from me. This is the last photo I took of a recent soap where I tried indigo + oil on top of my soap on a whim and it turned out really pretty! I’ve been making so much soap and doing a ton of natural color experiments. My curing racks are full, so we might sell some soap in April (after I take pictures for my book and we get home from Hawaii). I’m looking forward to being done with everything and getting back to you guys. Thanks for your patienceā£ļø

Hi all and happy 2026! šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ We are back on the gram after an unexpected five month break. It all started when I read the book Deep Work by Cal Newport. I was looking for ways to make my days more productive because I needed to focus on writing my second book. Obviously Instagram is a huge distraction, so I committed to removing it from my phone for 30 days. It worked so well that 30 days turned into 5 months and in that time, I got the first draft of my manuscript done and averaged under an hour of phone time per day. It’s been great, but I missed you guys and connecting with everyone here. I hope to come back slowly and with intention. Muddy Mint is still here, but this book is taking everything from me, so most things just kind of stopped: new recipes, our course (which is partially recorded), and our YouTube videos. I did start a Facebook page for my first book called ā€œThe Natural Soapmaking Handbookā€ and am being more active there answering questions, so if you’re interested come on over! It’ll be slow going in 2026 as there’s still a lot more book stuff to do, but I hope you hang in there because there’s so much good stuff to come! Hope you are all doing well. ā¤ļø
