Sneak peek of my second book, Minimalist Soapmaking. š Pre-order link on my website at muddymint.com. Iāve been working on this book non-stop since August and Iām closing in on the finish line (finally!). Iām super excited about these soaps, recipes, and the simple process that I teach. The hardest part for me is always the photos, but Iām so happy with the results! I hope you love it. If you have questions about this book, ask away!
I wrote (and photographed) a soapmaking book and I canāt wait to share it with you!! It is now available for pre-order in the US, Canada, and the UK (see link in my profile). I worked with an amazing team @pagestreetpublishing to make this book a reality. Itās available as a print book and an ebook.
I spent the last year pouring my heart and soul into these 200 pages and it is packed full of soapy goodness for beginners and advanced soapmakers alike! This book is gorgeous and you might just want to lay it out on your coffee table! Hereās a sneak peek of the cover.
The book contains:
š Thirty-one brand new soap recipes that I created exclusively for this book. Every recipe is all-natural and palm oil free.
š Formulation tips and tricks and substitution ideas for each recipe. Basically, I go through my thought process on why I chose certain oils and why I created the recipe the way I did.
š How to make and store a 50/50 lye water solution so you can create a master batch of lye-water for all your recipes. This is an absolute game-changer in soapmaking and I havenāt seen any other soapmaking book present recipes this way.
š How to easily include alternative liquids in soap, like milk, carrot juice, aloe vera, or basically anything else!
š A list of my top 12 essential oils for blending, with the exact botanical names of the oils I use and where I buy them.
š My techniques for formulating essential oil blends specifically for cold process soap, which is NOT the standard top, middle, and base note advice. I find this advice to be overly complicated and confusing and Iāve never blended my essential oils this way. Iāll teach you my special tricks for blending which are easy and lead to consistent results every time.
š And a lot more! (see full list at muddymint.com)
This book is for YOU! I wrote it with you in mind. Seriously. You are my audience and you are exactly who I wrote this book for. I hope you love it.
XO, Simi

The book soap release is on Friday at 9am MDT (at muddymint.com)! Iāve been posting stories about everything, so check those out in my highlights if you missed them. Hereās the run-down:
š Be online at 9am Mountain Time to grab your goodies. These will be available at muddymint.com only. Look for āMinimalist Collectionā.
š Pro Tip: If you create an account and login, youāll be able to check out faster. If youāre using Shop or another form of payment, make sure your email and address are correct.
š We will be selling book soap bundles (pictured). This is a pack of four soaps from the book and I put all the bundles together individually with lots of thought, so they are all different and all good! This is a mix of scented and unscented soaps. There are at least 2-3 scented soaps in every bundle and they are all really pretty with great ingredients. I used the Nurture Shea soap recipe from my book for all these soaps. They are all-natural and palm oil free. Some may contain goat milk and/or honey, so while most bars are vegan, they arenāt all vegan.
š We are also selling bundles of colorful soap bars (unscented). These use the Nurture Shea recipe as well, but all these bars are vegan. They are the soaps I made for my color experiments and youāll get four different colors.
š Weāll have base recipe bundles. These include lovely white (unscented) bars of Nurture Shea, Tallow, and Tallow & Shea soaps.
š Weāll have soap blocks! These are blocks of baby soap made with goat milk and oatmeal. Theyāre not just for babies of course, but great for sensitive skin. These will be sold individually and are unscented.
š Weāll have Scrap Pack bundles for $25. Youāll get four soaps that werenāt quite pretty enough for the other bundles. Mostly unscented, but there are a few scented soaps in there as well.
š Shipping is a flat rate of $7 and every order comes with a sample.
š Soaps are not labeled, but if you email me a picture of your order, Iāll let you know what you got. :) I will not be posting the soaps (other than what youāve seen and heard in my stories) as they are a surprise for my book. :)
I think thatās everything! ā¤ļø
Note to self: take wet soap photos for my next book! I had to remake this soap recipe today for my 2nd book, Minimalist Soapmaking, and Iād forgotten how beautiful the color of the batter was! This one is called Sweet Little Moments and this color is from an alkanet root infusion. Thereās also a surprise inside! ;) The last thing on my mind when Iām creating is taking photos, as the process can be messy and unpredictable. š But, wet soap is just so luscious! š
SPRING RECIPE SALE! Itās been a long time since weāve had a sale or released anything new, so itās time for some fun! Use code HAPPYSPRING for the next five days to get 20% off your entire order. Enjoy! ā¤ļø
Iāve clearly overcome my Instagram addiction and havenāt even checked back since I last posted. I guess it is possible to wean yourself from the gram! I promised myself Iād post a new photo, as itās been a while since you guys have seen anything new from me. This is the last photo I took of a recent soap where I tried indigo + oil on top of my soap on a whim and it turned out really pretty! Iāve been making so much soap and doing a ton of natural color experiments. My curing racks are full, so we might sell some soap in April (after I take pictures for my book and we get home from Hawaii). Iām looking forward to being done with everything and getting back to you guys. Thanks for your patienceā£ļø
Hi all and happy 2026! šš¼ We are back on the gram after an unexpected five month break. It all started when I read the book Deep Work by Cal Newport. I was looking for ways to make my days more productive because I needed to focus on writing my second book. Obviously Instagram is a huge distraction, so I committed to removing it from my phone for 30 days. It worked so well that 30 days turned into 5 months and in that time, I got the first draft of my manuscript done and averaged under an hour of phone time per day. Itās been great, but I missed you guys and connecting with everyone here. I hope to come back slowly and with intention.
Muddy Mint is still here, but this book is taking everything from me, so most things just kind of stopped: new recipes, our course (which is partially recorded), and our YouTube videos. I did start a Facebook page for my first book called āThe Natural Soapmaking Handbookā and am being more active there answering questions, so if youāre interested come on over!
Itāll be slow going in 2026 as thereās still a lot more book stuff to do, but I hope you hang in there because thereās so much good stuff to come! Hope you are all doing well. ā¤ļø
