The lake is owned by an absentee British Landlord. The current owner of that estate is Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, the 12th Earl of Shaftesbury — an English aristocrat who inherited the rights.

I am posting this as I was shocked to find this out a few years ago, and I don't think it's known generally. We have a duty of care to our country and our people to take the lake back under our own ownership. I've found some good campaigns online, but I'm hoping people here can share some resources / links to activities happening in 2026.
