Yesterday we cut the ribbon on our largest project to date - the Vare Recreation Center. This $21 million revitalization project in partnership with Rebuild and Philadelphia Parks and Rec was made possible by the support of former Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Mayor Cherelle Parker, Council President Kenyatta Johnson, State Representative Jordan Harris, the Rosenthal Foundation, the Philadelphia Eagles, and many others.
The new 18,700 square foot Vare Recreation Center includes a 7,000 square foot indoor basketball gymnasium with spectator seating, a 4,900 square foot gymnastics gym equipped with brand new athletic equipment, a 900 square foot multipurpose room that can be converted into two classrooms, a computer lab equipped with high-speed fiber optic internet, two new outdoor basketball courts and a new sprayground, a 1,500 square foot outdoor plaza and performance space, a 6,000 square foot playground designed with play structures for children of all ages, and a
regulation sized synthetic turf field to be installed in spring 2025.
We couldn’t have made this project a reality without the ongoing engagement, support, and patience of the Vare Community throughout this entire journey. We can’t wait to see this new space become a thriving hub for this great community for many many years to come.

Students from the competition’s finalist teams heard from Dean Erika James and #WEMBA Vice Dean Mauro Guillén and pitched their investment strategies for #WhartonGrad competition client @ConnorBarwin98 (WG’23)’s @MTWBFoundation .
Student team FigCapital from @StuyvesantHighSchool in NYC ultimately took home first place in a competition that started in September with more than 5,400 teams from around the world. #WhartonYouth

Silvi Materials was proud to supply concrete for a truly one-of-a-kind project: a concert poster carved directly into a Philadelphia sidewalk by world-renowned graffiti and contemporary artist Stephen Powers, also known as ESPO.
Created for the annual benefit concert supporting former Eagle Connor Barwin’s Make The World Better Foundation, the piece was a clever tribute to the show’s headliner, the indie rock band Pavement.
Founded in 2013, the MTWB Foundation revitalizes Philadelphia’s public spaces into high-quality community centers that provide a safe outlet for recreation, sports, and arts-based activities.
We’re grateful to have played a role in such a fun and unique project, especially one led by a former Eagle and dedicated to supporting our local Philadelphia community.
