I finished up doing some trim work for my son and his family, and had time to spare, so I googled records stores near their house. I saw one I hadn't seen before, and it was in the neighborhood. I had no idea what I was in store for. It could be awesome, or it could be another flashback of thrift store record piles that tend to disappoint..
It was actually really awesome!! I didn't get past the new arrivals section before I had to check out due to already finding too many records for my budget. The selection was good, and not the usual norm you'd see at most record stores. Everything they had was 'choice', and very eclectic.. I started talking with the owner, and skateboarding came up, and he showed me some old skateboards that were on the shelf in his shop. I said that I saw my 1st skateboard!! He pulls it out and yes, it was a California Free Former... I was so stoked, and he could see that. So he says "check this out" and begins peeling the price tag off.. he says, " I want you to have this". My jaw dropped, literally... I said " I will pay for it", but he refused and gave it to me. Not only did I score some rad records for a great deal, but this man gave me a piece of my childhood back to me that had been just a memory, and a great memory at that. Thank you, Shawn Mayo and @tigerrecordsco for the awesome gift. I'll be seeing you soon to pick some more records!!
Wow! I just found a new gem in the Colorado Springs area! New record store called Tiger Records!!! I highly recommend this shop for the avid vinyl collector... So many original copies and many are signed by the artists.. They actually have a signed copy of Peter Tosh's album, "The Harder They Come" original LP pressing... Several signed Black Flag records, and more..
I got a visit from a childhood friend today, and it made my soul absolutely shine!!! We haven't seen each other in decades, but it was like we were hanging out just yesterday.. Thanks @seantraceytroubadour for the wonderful visit. I wish we had more time, but we can make that happen.. I love you, brother, and can't wait until we see each other again. 🙌❤️
The great thing about skateboarding is that it's never too late to pick up the board again! It's all about sharing that love and helping someone else get rolling, maybe your coworker, to reconnect with something that used to bring them pure happiness. And we are here for it. Anyone who needs help getting a set-up, we will literally dig through our closets to get something together!
