Most mountain athletes think pain means something is wrong. It usually doesn’t. Pain isn’t damage. Pain isn’t a stop sign. Pain is your body communicating that a joint, muscle, or pattern isn’t quite ready for the load you’re putting on it. That “tight” hamstring you keep stretching? Most of the time, it’s your nervous system protecting a muscle that doesn’t feel strong enough yet. That knee that flares on the first big ski day? Usually a capacity issue, not a structural problem. Your body isn’t failing. It’s protecting you. And when you understand the signals, you can train through pain safely — instead of avoiding everything or burning out. This Wednesday, Nov 19 at 5pm MT, I’m teaching a free workshop where I’ll break this down in a simple, usable way: → How to interpret pain → How to adjust your training → How to build strength + confidence that actually lasts If you can’t attend live, register anyway — the replay only goes to people on the list. 🔗 Register here: /pain-free-performance #MountainAthlete #SkiTraining #EnduranceTraining #MTNSTRNG #PainFreePerformance #SkiPrep #StrengthTraining #TrailRunning #KneePain #HamstringTightness #MobilityTraining #CapacityBuilding #LongevityTraining #TrainForTheMountains

Running is a skill. And running requires strength. If you're not having a good time running, consider if it's a skill gap or a strength gap. Don't assume you're strong enough, or that you're skilled enough. What's more important - your ego, or your progress?

If running hurts, it could be a strength deficit, a skill deficit, or an aerobic capacity deficit. Not sure which it is? Start by improving your cadence (up to 170-180), and then check in.

You already know how to suffer uphill. But if you want to actually ski stronger, move longer, and recover faster this season… your engine needs an upgrade. Most mountain athletes rely on grit. The best ones rely on VO₂ Max and Zone 2. On Dec 17, I’m teaching a free workshop on how to build the aerobic engine that drives performance and longevity in the mountains. If you ski, run, bike, or tour in the Wasatch — this will change how you train. 🔗 Register: go.mtnstrng.com/aerobic-engine-workshop #mountainathlete #backcountryskiing #vo2max #zone2training #skiing #wasatch #enduranceathlete #mtnstrng

Most mountain athletes aren’t limited by their legs or their strength. They’re limited by their engine. If your VO₂ Max is low, everything in the mountains feels harder than it should. That burning on climbs? That early redline on the skintrack? That feeling of “I’m fit… but why am I still gassed?” That’s physiology — not effort. On December 17, I’m teaching a free, live workshop on how to build a bigger aerobic engine using VO₂ Max + Zone 2 training. If you want easier climbs, better pacing, and more days in the mountains… 👉 Register here: go.mtnstrng.com/aerobic-engine-workshop Let’s build the engine your sport actually requires. ⛰️🔥 #mtnstrng #mountainathlete #vo2maxtraining #zone2training #endurancetraining #skitraining #backcountryskiing #trailrunningtraining #mountainfitness #saltlakecityfitness #longevitytraining #mountainstrong

If you’re struggling on climbs, it’s not your legs. It’s not your quads. It’s not your strength. It’s your engine. Your VO₂ Max sets the ceiling on your performance. Your Zone 2 builds the foundation for your longevity. And most mountain athletes never train either correctly. On Wednesday, December 17, I’m running a free workshop on exactly how to build a bigger aerobic engine — for performance and long-term durability in the mountains. If you want easier climbs, better pacing, and more energy for the sports you love… 👉 REGISTER HERE: go.mtnstrng.com/aerobic-engine-workshop Let’s build your engine before winter fully hits. 🔥⛰️ #mtnstrng #mountainathlete #vo2maxtraining #zone2training #endurancetraining #backcountryskiing #trailrunningtraining #skiconditioning #longevitytraining #saltlakecityfitness #mountainstrong

Most mountain athletes want to be consistent with strength training… but honestly? We’d rather be outside. I get it — I was the same way. Here’s what finally changed everything for me: 1️⃣ Two focused sessions a week. 45–60 minutes. That’s it. Within a month, my stability and performance in the mountains leveled up. 2️⃣ Training with a community I actually wanted to show up for. Environment matters more than motivation. 3️⃣ The right program. Consistent where it counts (hip + trunk strength for my low back pain). Flexible and fun where it doesn’t (upper body variety to keep me engaged). Small tweaks → massive payoff. If this hits, drop a comment below — or DM me “STRENGTH” and I’ll send you my free training plan. #mountainathlete #mtnstrng #utahfitness #saltlakecityfitness #mountaintraining #strengthtrainingforendurance #skitraining #splitboardtraining #trailrunningtraining #outdoorathlete #strongforthemountains #powderstrong #wasatchmountains #slcfitness #strengthcoach

Most people overcomplicate strength training. They chase the perfect program, the perfect split, the perfect exercise variation… …but the athletes who actually get stronger? They repeat the basics. They master positions. They stay consistent. Here’s the truth 👇 You don’t need 37 accessories, a color-coded spreadsheet, or a 6-day bodybuilding split to make real progress. You need: ✅ A few big movements ✅ Intentional progression ✅ Enough volume to grow ✅ The patience to stick with it longer than 3 weeks Simple → Repeatable → Effective. That’s how you build strength that actually shows up in the mountains. If you want a simple, effective strength plan built for real-life schedules… DM me the word “strength” and I’ll send you a free training plan. ⸻ #mountainathlete #mtnstrng #strengthtraining #strengthcoach #endurancetraining #mountaintraining #skiconditioning #runstrong #bikebetter #climbstrong #outdoorathlete #longevitytraining #trainforever #strongerforthemountains #utahfitness #saltlakecityfitness #hybridathlete #strengthandconditioning #movementcoach

If you’re dealing with pain, inconsistent training, or feeling like your strength just isn’t where it should be… Kaylee’s story is exactly what’s possible on the other side of a real, individualized plan. “Pain has gone away, I have become incredibly strong, I eat healthier, and I have a lot of upper body strength.” — Kaylee This is what happens when you stop guessing… and start training with intention, structure, and support. If you want strength that actually shows up in your mountain seasons — in your joints, your power, your confidence — it starts with understanding exactly what you need. The hardest part of change isn’t the training plan. It’s not the macros. It’s not even the motivation — because motivation comes in all forms: excitement, frustration, disappointment, disgust, hope. The real work is this: Becoming the kind of person who does the things you want to do. That means understanding what your goal actually represents… Showing up for the right work, consistently… And getting your head into the right headspace — even when you don’t feel like it. At MTN STRNG, we focus on identity first, systems second, habits third. Because when your structure is solid, consistency becomes inevitable. And that is how you change your body, your VO2Max, your performance, and your entire trajectory. If you’re ready to build the identity + the systems that match your goals, I can help. Send me a DM and let’s talk. #MTNSTRNG #mountainathlete #enduranceathlete #mountaintraining #vo2maxtraining #zone2training #strengthforendurance #skitraining #trailrunningtraining #hybridathlete #consistencyoverintensity #identitybasedhabits #endurancetraining #saltlakecityfitness #slcfit #mountainstrong #trainforskiing #trainforlife #outdoorathlete #backcountryskiing #ultrarunningtraining

Too many mountain athletes make training harder than it needs to be. You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a consistent-enough plan. If you’d rather be outside skiing, running, climbing, or riding (same 🙋‍♂️), here’s the framework that actually works: 1️⃣ Think in quarters, not weeks. 12 weeks of “good enough” training beats 12 days of perfection every time. 2️⃣ Hit 2–3 strength sessions/week. And move them around your week so you can chase snow, hero dirt, or a good weather window. Flexibility = longevity. 3️⃣ Prioritize the basics. Squat. Hinge. Push. Pull. Chassis integrity. 45–60 minutes. In, out, done. Because what you do on any single day matters way less than what you stack up over 12 weeks. If this resonates, drop a comment. Save this to come back to. Share it with a friend who needs the reminder. #mountainathlete #mountaintraining #skitraining #backcountryskiing #mtbtraining #endurancetraining #chassisintegrity #strengthforendurance #strengthtrainingforlife #longevitytraining #mtnstrng

I wish someone told me this 15 years ago… When I started CrossFit, I thought it was the best way to get strong for running, cycling, skiing — all the mountain stuff I loved. And yeah, I got fitter. But what I actually needed was real strength training — strength work done outside of conditioning. Dedicated sessions. Dedicated cycles. Time spent building muscle, resilience, and actual capacity. Everything changed when I stopped burying strength inside conditioning and finally committed to real strength development. My physique changed. My durability changed. My performance changed. And the endurance? It came back. It always does. If this hits for you, drop me a comment — I’d love to hear your story. #MountainAthlete #MTNSTRNG #StrengthTrainingForLife #LongevityTraining #SkiFitness #RunStrong #TrailRunningTraining #StrengthCoach #EnduranceTraining #HybridAthlete #SaltLakeCityFitness #LiftHeavyRunFar #StrengthForEndurance #StrengthIsAChoice #ChassisIntegrity #BuildYourEngine #GetStrongerLiveBetter
