This photo hung on my wall in college and several other walls of mine throughout the years. I’ve always held a special place for this picture - which as taken on my trip to London to visit these three geniuses studying abroad. And now after such heartbreaking news, I’m certain we are all trying to come to grips with the fact that this incredibly gifted man - who was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the chance to know - is gone. It doesn’t seem real; it doesn’t seem fair. From the moment we first met, Gavin had this ethereal energy that was so alluring. I, like most who met him in college, was floored by the innate talent he possessed. But it was his gentle nature, kindness and sincerity (not to mention his overall ‘lust for life’ and genuine connections) that made me admire (and oftentimes idolize) him. He touched so many lives doing the thing he loved so much. And, my God, he was amazing. He had such poise and he commanded attention when he walked on stage. I looked-up to him; I loved him. We all did. You’d be hard pressed to find a single person who did not get along with or have an unkind word to say about Gavin.
And though our paths didn’t cross sometimes for years at a time; when they eventually did - it always felt like no time had passed at all. He truly was a special soul; one in a million.
To all of you who have been touched by Gavin, either in person or through his body of work; take comfort in the fact that you experienced a connection with one of the kindest, most talented people ever to walk this earth. You will be missed, buddy. You will be missed. My heart goes out to his family, his partner and everyone else from the University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre Department who were fortunate to know this beautiful person. He was a shining star and will continue to shine for all eternity. XOXO
Today is the day that this man, this perfect - beautiful man, held my hand in front of our nearest and dearest and said he’d love me forever. On this day we celebrated what we created 13 years ago. It’s been imperfect; it’s been perfection. Never did I feel I’d be worthy of a man as good and kind (and gorgeous) as briantheauthor Every day together has been the most wonderful adventure. In you, I’ve found my best friend, my confidant, my protector, my cheerleader, my voice of reason, my missing pieces. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve the gift that you are. I only hope the next 13 years are just as funny; as beautiful and as fortunate as these past 13. I’m sure I don’t say it enough; but I adore you Brian Young. You have made my life shine. The one thing I learned is there is no one man band. Its takes more than a team, it’s a village, a community of ppl who put their trust in you while you put your faith in them. It’s reciprocal.

Saw INTO THE WOODS last night Red Phoenix Theatre Inc. w/ Elizabeth Wright Coats my theatre going buddy. It was an AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY reunion as Megan Cleary Jurkovic & Jim Dailey killed in the show. You both are so special to me - it’s the family you choose and Pikachu - I choose you two…. Plus it yielded ridiculously insane photos (see below)
