I’m honored to present to you “Food of the Gods”, acrylic on 3ft x 4ft canvas. There are more mushrooms on the Earth than there are humans, and their history predates our significantly. Prototaxite fossils are some of the oldest ones we have. Extremely large, stump shaped creatures that produced soil, dirt out of the once very rocky crust. Amanita Muscaria also have an incredibly rich history, being the first introduction to the spiritual world for many early cultures. The harvesting of these mushrooms for ritual use led to the beginning of agriculture. Fungus found growing in cattle excrement could now be maintained and harvested consistently. Fungal species outnumber and out-reproduce humanity. They also share amounts of human DNA. Mushrooms communicate with each other, and move through complex webs of mycelium. They also communicate and share nutrients with trees. I highly recommend reading “Food of the Gods; The Search for the Original Tree of Knowledge”. I also recommend going for a walk in the woods. Too often we forget that we are visiting this incredible planet.
