@effystores 5 years on, still going strong 💪 🎂
Also marking 10 years in coffee personally now + a little tribute to where it all started with my first/original shop before Effy was a thing (when I could pour decent latte art) ✨
4.5 years of owning @effystores and 18 months of taking full ownership and rewriting what people thought of my little shop (this was/still is very difficult) I finally got the keys to our beautiful new space and can’t wait to build a truly conceptualised venue for the people of nottingham ✨
To make it better my best mate @wbcoff is here to do it all with me, what can go wrong
Effy’s 4th birthday & a workshop with @dakcoffeeroasters in showcasing how we approach espresso brewing in store, round off a pretty wild year.
This last year has been stupidly challenging but we came out of it with proof of a working new normal for how much hospitality staff can be paid and a minimum of what they are worth (a fucking lot)
We continue into this year with all staff members of Effy working 3 days a week, 225 days off a year on over £15 p/h with a basic starting salary as a Effy barista at 25k p/a + equity. This all the while keeping a phenomenal standard of coffee with our cost per kg at Effy for house espresso at £35/50 a kg on average.
The next year promises a year of sustained growth with a new site + 3 new high paid hospitality jobs for a city which isn’t london.
Little bit a preachy post but something I’m quite passionate about shouting about and hopefully helping people get what they deserve 🤝
