TREE OF THE MONTH Meet this remarkable River Red Gum at Harrogate Reserve - a survivor of the 2019 Cudlee Creek fires. Estimated to be 200 to 250 years old, this significant mature tree is not only a striking feature of the landscape but also an ecological powerhouse. Trees like this provide critical habitat hollows that take decades to form offering nesting, breeding and shelter sites for wildlife including parrots, cockatoos, owls, micro-bats, possums and reptiles. Its canopy, bark and roots support a rich diversity of native species while also providing nectar, pollen, leaves and shade. Old trees like this are more than survivors - they're essential living ecosystems.

THESE KITTENS ARE NOT AI 🐈‍⬛ These gorgeous creatures are real - and they're all looking for homes! Meet them in person at our Pop Up Adoption Day happening this Friday 15 May from 10.30am - 1.30pm at Pets Domain in the Homemaker Centre. Please note we're not accepting early applications or holds for these kittens. If you're serious about adopting, please come and see us Friday and bring the following documentation with you on the day: 🐾 proof of home ownership; or 🐾 landlord approval if you're renting. In addition to these kittens, we'll also have other cats looking for their 'furever' family. All animals are desexed and microchipped. Adoption fees vary and range from $220 for kittens to $55 for senior cats eight years and over. Friday's Pop Up Adoption Day is delivered by Council in partnership with the state's Dog and Cat Management Board. #mostliveableregioninsa

KSP SKATE PARK – PAINTED AND OPEN The skate park at Keith Stephenson Park has a fresh new look! The park was recently closed for several days to allow for repainting using specialised skate paint to improve grip and safety. The new colour scheme was chosen following input from local skateboarders, who have been advocating for the improvements. Temporary fencing is coming down today and the park will be ready to use just in time for the weekend. This project is a great example of young people contributing to positive change in the community, and we ask that all users respect the skate park by not graffitiing or deliberately damaging the surface. Looking ahead, a regional skatepark is planned for Mount Barker and we’re inviting the community to help decide where it should go. This stage of consultation is focused on location only, with detailed design to follow once a preferred site is identified. You can share your feedback here 👉 https://yoursay.mountbarker.sa.gov.au/mount-barker-centre-masterplan
