We recently welcomed @mt_qu and @amy_j_wilson to the @croydon_school_of_art to conclude an ongoing project 🎨 It was a fun‑packed day spent creating landscapes and artefacts for our biospheres ☺️ Students thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the project and exploring ideas through speculative fiction. We recently welcomed Amy J Wilson and Meitao-Qu to CSOA to deliver a talk and workshop; 'Build your own Biosphere' Hosted by Turf Projects. Inspired by experimental ecological projects like 'Biosphere 2' the session focused on speculative design, storytelling, and hands on making as students created a miniature biosphere to explore how architecture, technology and art can shape alternative environmental futures. The outcomes were so brill, and we're excited for the next stage of the project. Thanks, guys. Creative Practice Art, Design and Comms L3.1 @amy_j_wilson and @mt_qu @turfprojects

This week we are delighted to welcome the new cohort of Gilbert Bayes Award winners who will join the Society in 2026! Meet Meitao Qu GBA @mt_qu Meitao Qu is a UK-based Chinese artist working across sculpture, installation and digital media. Taking urban landscapes, industrial infrastructure and domestic interiors as sites of inquiry, her practice explores how popular imaginations and dominant ideologies are inscribed through the material and architectural fabric of daily life. Reworking forms drawn from decorative, culinary and botanical art traditions, she is interested in the plasticity of meaning that emerges between objects, their makers and users. Using ready-made models and prefabricated assets, her work assembles fragments of scaled worlds to produce referential encounters with objects and spaces that stage and shape the everyday. Will be showing some new and recent work at @quenchgallery with @mojjyart , alongside @ciaran.wood - opening tomorrow 5-8 pm ! ‘Decadently Ordinary’ explores objects and environments that encompass feelings of the extravagant and the banal, reflecting a basic impulse to decorate and embellish. Bringing together sculpture, painting and textiles, the artists build, weave and plate small worlds to playfully consider how objects transcend their materiality to shape and stage our experience of the everyday. Open 12 - 6pm Friday - Sunday, till 3rd August. Poster @olivermounir

'One world, one dream' (2024) on show @public.gallery until 7 Dec 🚅 'The installation borrows its title from the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, referencing how global mechanisms of urbanisation unite the world in a perpetual state of redevelopment. Taking the form of a tiered urban landscape, the work captures the essence of generic architectural idealisms. At the top of the installation sits a dessert tray, holding inside a makeshift Cinderella style castle supported by utilitarian constructions below. The structures are encircled by a sushi train ferrying a convoy of notable skyscrapers, and with it the ideals of progress and social mobility.' Open Tuesday to Saturday 11am - 6pm
