2025: Hit the ground running.

Friends, thank you for the birthday wishes and love sent my way today. Unfortunately, today was the day I’ve dreaded ever since I was old enough to understand the concept of death and loss. My grandfather, for which I am (middle) named Tivis, left this world this morning to continue on his journey into whatever comes after. I was blessed to be raised by three generations of strong, fierce, and independent women. However, that means the boys club was very small. It was just me and Papaw. I wanted to be just like him. I still want to be just like him. I was, am, and will forever be Papaws boy. There is no amount of preparation for days like this. While there is relief in knowing his pain and suffering has came to an end and he can be at peace, I am still gutted and heartbroken as I try to wrap my head around waking up in the morning to a world without him in it. Peace and love to all of you; hold your loved ones tight. Give a far-off loved one a call to let them know they’re on your mind. Raise a glass of whatever you drink be it strong or weak, alcohol or water, diet rite or a 7up, and send a cheers to the man who made me the man I am today, as we start this process of saying goodbye. ❤️

Been out there perfecting the art of solo touring as a drummer. Running roads with drums in the back of an old pickup and playing with different bands in different towns each night. Had a big ol fun weekend with all the bubs. Keeping busy the rest of August. @thecheapdates crew is playing some KY shows this weekend with Lexington on Friday. 12pm set in Morehead on Saturday and a 7pm show in Richmond that night. Playing Flood with Love with @charlie.overman on Aug 24th. The Cheap Dates end the month at HMAF in huntington on Aug 31st. See yall out there.

First, a big ol happy birthday to the crucial bubby and best bud Tucker [ @focus_your_iris ]. Second, I'm fortunate to get to spend a good deal of my time making music with all my best friends. Today, we welcome our little 11 songs, 34 minutes and 25 seconds , bundle of joy "Restless Spirit" into the world. It's Levon's "gotcha day"! On this day 5 years ago, we brought this little pup home, and life has been forever better because of it. Here's a picture from that first car ride home. ❤️
