East Texas Showdown || March 2026 This may be my favorite photo of the weekend. The Houston crew is a great bunch of folks. Day 3 felt a bit more lively than previous years. We had the new gravel race, which brought in a fresh crowd, but I think the beautiful weather kept people around as well. Here are some of my favorite shots from Sunday.

East Texas Showdown || March 2026 Here are some shots from the Lowdown campout hosted by some OGs from the showdown series. I had a blast connecting with these folks once the sun went down.

East Texas Showdown || March 2026 Last weekend was the annual East Texas Showdown. It’s a familiar weekend, but this year was a little different. Instead of driving many miles chasing people much faster than I could even dream of, I got to ride my bike. I still brought my camera, but this time captured day one from the perspective of a rider. I had a feeling it would be fun, but I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Here are some of my favorite riding shots from day one.

It’s my best friend’s birthday today! The big THREE FIVE!! We are in our tenth year of being together, and I’m continuing to find reasons for how lucky I am to be your partner. You are the kindest and most thoughtful person I know. I love you.

Dunton Hot Springs || October 2025 The sun finally broke through on Sunday, giving us our first real look at the San Juan Mountains. I tried to keep the camera packed away and just take it all in, but the light changed so dramatically I couldn’t resist a few more shots. This place was something else, and we couldn’t be more thankful to have shared in such a beautiful celebration.

Dunton Hot Springs || October 2025 Spent last weekend at the unreal Dunton Hot Springs celebrating Nick and Sandra’s beautiful wedding. I’ve never seen so many yellow aspens in my life. This is the first of at least two posts, every inch of that place deserved to be photographed. The fog and rain the first couple of days made for some incredible shooting conditions.

Roadtrip Day 6 & 7 I made my way south to Palo Duro Canyon SP for drier conditions. Ironically, they had been recently hit with some storms and all the trails were closed. Trying to make the most of a that detour, I spent the day trying to find some decent compositions accessible from the park road. I stuck around for a bit in hopes they’d dry up enough to open them up, but the trails were too soggy and remained closed. In an effort to stick to my goal of riding every day on my trip, I decided to stop at Reveille Peak Ranch closer to home. No matter how much rain Central Texas gets, RPR is usually rideable. The trails were in great condition, just a bit overgrown in some areas. Wildflowers were in their full second phase bloom, the bluebonnets were no more but the prickly pear blossoms, sunflowers and indian blankets became the stars of the show. It was a great way to end this road trip and to be honest was one of the only times I could remember feeling truly grateful for where we call home. Usually after time in the mountains I’m scheming on how can I live there permanently, but this time it felt good to be back in Central Texas.

Roadtrip Day 4 & 5 I spent a couple of days in Santa Fe searching for dry trails after heavy rain and a winter storm made most routes unrideable. I tried riding the Glorieta trails but hit some of the worst peanut butter mud I’ve ever seen, though the terrain was stunning. I can’t wait to ride those trails again when they are a bit more dry. The next day, I found more enjoyable conditions at La Tierra, which made for a solid reprieve from the day prior. The real highlight, though, was meeting Terri, an Australian cyclist riding from San Diego to Maine along Route 66. She was dealing with a string of flats when we met at the campground outside Glorieta. I was grateful that I was able to bring her into town and help pick out some burlier tires for the rest of her ride. It was great to hear about her past adventures and help her feel more confident for the miles ahead. Also, I saw a freaking double rainbow! I tried my best to grab a photo, but the side of I-40 doesn’t lend itself as the most photogenic spot.
