This Mental Health Awareness Month, LeadHER Up had the honor of hosting our Mindful May Seminar in Ceres, bringing youth and community members together to have important conversations about mental health, wellbeing, and support. A huge thank you to Mayor Javier Lopez for coming out and speaking about the importance of mental health awareness in our community. Thank you as well to Janeice Suarez from SheBecame209 for sharing valuable insight on wellbeing and self-care, and to Amber and Riley from the MSW Program at Stan State for educating attendees about social work and the impact mental health professionals have on our communities. A special thank you to Kym Barber from NAMI Stanislaus for leading the goose clip activity and reminding everyone that no one is ever alone. Participants also created stress balls as healthy tools for stress relief and positive coping skills. These activities encouraged creativity, connection, and meaningful conversations about mental health. Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, volunteered, and supported this event. Conversations about mental health matter, and together we can continue creating safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported. Remember to check in on yourself and others — you are never alone.

One of our very own MSW students is courageously battling breast cancer while continuing to show up as a devoted mother, classmate, and future social worker 🤍 In the midst of treatments, appointments, and uncertainty, she is still holding on to the same strength and compassion that brought her into this profession. As social work students, we talk every day about community, empathy, and showing up for those in need. Now it’s our turn to live those values. Let’s wrap her and her children in the same care and support we strive to give others. Whether you’re able to donate, share, or simply send words of encouragement, every act of kindness matters. Together, we can help lighten her load so she can focus on healing and her family. Please consider supporting her through GoFundMe and showing what it truly means to stand beside one of our own. 💗 Link: https://gofund.me/2469706bb
