Ted Turner was an icon in my industry. I met him in 2014 when I was asked by the United Nations Foundation to interview him for the Film Independent Humanitarian Award, for which he was being honored. Many people know Turner started CNN (in 1980) but, you may not know his connection to philanthropy. Turner made a $1 Billion dollar gift to the #UnitedNations that was used to establish the @unfoundation because he believed the UN was crucial for addressing the worldâs problems. This interview was at the home of Philanthropist Ron Burkle. You can see from this picture that Ted was in a good mood - happy to receive his award.
