Have you achieved what you set out to achieve in 2025?
No judgement if the answer is 'No'.
Around this time of year, many of us review how our year has transpired and become pretty hard on ourselves if we haven’t ticked off all the things on our dreams and goals list.
I’ve been there 😭.
However, beating yourself up is not only a futile exercise, but it also ramps up those negative feelings of unworthiness, so it becomes a catch-22 situation.
If you’re in your midlife season, the stakes are even higher. You’re likely feeling frustration and disillusionment on a next level, with that little voice telling you that you need to change your circumstances.
Despite your efforts, you just can’t move forward.
I coach women by helping them take action with their goals – consider me your hype girl of sorts 💃🏽
For over 20 years, I’ve worked in women’s magazines and spent 7 of those years as editor of a women’s hair and lifestyle magazine. I’ve devoted half of my adult life to amplifying women’s stories, celebrating their journeys, and creating content that speaks to their dreams, their struggles, and their resilience.
Now, I’m serving on a deeper, more intimate level by offering 1:1 coaching for women in midlife who are ready for reinvention 🥰.
So, if you're ready to:
✨ Change careers and step into work that actually lights you up
✨ Start the business or side hustle you can’t stop thinking about
✨ Become unstuck and rediscover what you want to do next after spending years serving others
✨ Rewrite the next chapter of your life with intention and courage
I’m here to walk with you as you navigate this powerful stage of your life.
With my coaching programme, The Next Chapter, I will support you so you can finally live in alignment, create more freedom, and find joy and purpose again.

I've gained a few new lovely faces around here (hey, hey 👋🏾), so I thought now would be the ideal time for an introduction and reintroduction for those who've been here for a while:
🫶🏾 My name is Keysha Barr, professionally known as Keysha Davis.
🫶🏾 I'm a proud Sarf Londoner of Jamaican heritage
❤️ I'm a wife and a mother to two beautiful boys, aged 10 and 20.
❤️I have a fondness for all things 80s and 90s pop culture
💄I've worked in the beauty industry for 15 plus years.
🗒️ I'm also a midlife reinvention coach, helping women 40+ rewrite their next chapter.
Join me for stories, glow-up tips, and more trips down memory lane 🙌🏾
If you are new here, or even if you've been here for a while, I'd love you to introduce yourself 👇🏾. Where do you currently live and which golden decade were you born in: 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or beyond? Rep your era in the comments 🙌🏾
My career captured in 10 slides - ta da! 👐🏾
It was quite the challenge to edit, as you can imagine, but this is it in a nutshell.
I used to feel insecure about the fact that I've jumped around in so many career sectors, but little did I know it would become my superpower when I made the leap into the freelance world almost eight years ago 🤹
Share your story, folks, no matter how non-linear and topsy turvy your journey has been.
Need help crafting your story? Drop me a DM or book a free discovery call (link in bio), and let's see if we can work together.
Over the last few years, I've seen friends rediscover their childhood passions - dancing, painting, sports, cake baking, playing instruments. I've also sadly experienced friends passing away 🙏🏾.
There's both beauty and pain in this mid-life stage. It forces you to confront your mortality, and as a by-product, you start to live intentionally and honour your deepest desires in the knowledge that life is fragile and fleeting.
Who can relate?

Despite the technical hitches, I truly enjoyed doing this live celebration of Prince. It was fun, a bit all over the place, but really enjoyable.
Thanks to @johnnie18 for stopping by and sharing so many gems from your brilliant book, and thanks to all those who stuck it out - got there in the end.
Continue to rest in paradise, Prince.
Off to have a lil kitchen boogey 💃💃
Soooo the Guardian tried to troll us Gen Xers by suggesting that any over 50s attending festivals are cringe. Um, excuse me? Did they not get the memo: we don't care, haha
Meanwhile, the group chats are currently on fire with festival and concert suggestions, as we all try to coordinate our calendars and avoid scheduling conflicts, cos there's loads going on.
Who is ready to have an amazing summer?

See you then
Since turning 50, like many women, I’ve experienced weight gain that seemingly came out of nowhere due to the hormonal changes which occur during perimenopause.
I’ve shared previously on here that I have a history of pre-diabetes. So essentially, I have to be super mindful of what I eat, how much rest I get, and I also have to make a concerted effort to minimise stress.
I can’t say it’s been easy. The most difficult task is sticking to a healthy(ish) diet and cutting down on foods that spike my blood sugar. For anyone in the same boat as me, I thought it might be useful to share what I typically eat in a day, which is helping me to maintain my current weight.
Breakfast: My go-to is fish for protein (kipper or salmon), scrambled eggs, avocado and sundried tomatoes. If I’m feeling particularly ravenous, I’ll have a 2-egg omelette instead.
Mid-morning snack: I’ve developed a bit of a thing for grapefruit, and tend to have it as a mid-morning snack with a handful of nuts.
Dinner: Winter is finally behind us, so I’ll be eating lighter, and that means fish or chicken for dinner, along with some salad or vegetables. I love rice and potatoes, but now I try to either go without or only have a spoonful.
Current craving: M&S Mature Cheddar & Red Onion crisps – I fully accept these have literally no nutritional value and are high in salt, so I really shouldn’t partake. But occasionally I cave into the craving.
Sweet tooth craving: I haven’t got a massive sweet tooth, but anytime I feel the urge to eat something sweet, I’ll eat a peg or two of Lindt’s 70% Intense Dark.
Sidenote: In terms of fitness, I’m not a huge fan of working out. However, I’ve been going to the gym consistently for over a year, and focus on walking on the treadmill for 40 minutes, followed by 20-30 minutes of strength training.
For my healthy eating crew: what do you think? Do you suggest I add or subtract anything from my current diet?
All glory goes to my client, who overcame obstacles and mindset blocks to bring her idea to life. She ditched:
Fear
Procrastination
Perfection
And continued to pursue her vision 🙏🏾
I'm just about to walk into her sold out masterclass 🎉🙏🏾❤️

If you're anything like us, you're tired of interviews asking stylists about their favourite conditioner. We want to know about the business, the strategy, and the tea. ☕️
The Coalition Tapes: An unfiltered interview series with the industry’s heaviest hitters.
Next up: The Narrative Architect, former Editor-in-Chief of Blackhair and PR Powerhouse, Keysha Davis @keyshadavis
We sat down to discuss:
Why the easy natural hair movement was actually a carefully edited myth sold to us by YouTubers.
The immediate ick that makes her delete a pitch from a brand or stylist in seconds.
Systemic ignorance in mainstream press: Why Black-owned brands still struggle for the same Vogue or Elle placements as the major conglomerates.
The Devil Wears Prada reality of the media industry and why she’s officially indifferent to fame.

I didn't intend to record an entire podcast about the Take That Netflix documentary, but here we are 🤣🙈. I guess some topics require more than a 60-second hot take.
In this video, I discuss how the documentary perfect encapsulates how the lads were all on their personal Wizard of Oz journeys and how the theme of overcoming inner demons applies to our own lives.
Have you seen the documentary? If so, what are your thoughts?
