🎓 Outstanding Graduate @zackokun came to @arizonastateuniversity looking for opportunities to combine research, entrepreneurship, leadership and service — and found a path to do all four.
As a manufacturing engineering student in @msnatasu Zack contributed to advanced manufacturing research, co-founded the AI startup myFacilities and launched STEMducate, a nonprofit that has expanded STEM education access to more than 30,000 students across all 50 states and 30 countries.
🎉 An Outstanding Graduate, Impact Award winner, Grand Challenges Scholar and tonight’s Convocation Speaker, Zack plans to continue at ASU pursuing a doctoral degree in systems engineering. His long-term goal is to build engineering solutions that create meaningful impact while supporting the next generation of innovators.

🤖 The student team from the @msnatasu and @polyschoolasu developed “Investigating IIoT Components to Enable Smart Manufacturing,” an interactive smart manufacturing workcell featuring industrial robotics, programmable logic controllers and a candy-dispensing demonstration designed to make advanced manufacturing concepts more accessible and engaging.

đź’ˇRecently, Wenlong Zhang, Zhengtao Gan and faculty members from the @uofmichigan College of Engineering gathered in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Center for Digital Twins in Manufacturing kick-off meeting and first Industry Advisory Board meeting. During the event, faculty members presented multiple research project proposals, and the Industry Advisory Board selected four projects for funding.
âś… The teams are setting up the projects, hiring students and preparing for research activities to begin this summer. @msnatasu is excited for the collaborations and innovations ahead!

Assistant Professor, Zhengtao Gan, has earned a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award to advance his research into multi-metal 3D printing. ⚙️
🥼💡His work focuses on preventing cracks where at the interface of metals — a critical step toward stronger, more reliable components for aerospace, energy and biomedical systems. By moving from trial-and-error to predictive, physics-informed design, his research is helping shape the future of advanced manufacturing.
